Looking forward to many more. Thanks for the journey ! God Bless!

Thank you Pammie, I often wish for a time machine as well. I want to go back and live with the Waltons. There's a lot of those old foundations out there and an old graveyard too. Some headstones date back to the late 1700's. It's an amazing area to trek around in.

I am very happy for you and almost happier for Frankie. He has such a great life with you ... the freedom ... and he is so tuned into you. I love your inukshuk - wonderful marker to leave. I agree with you in wishing you could see how it was back in the day when those foundations were home to those who passed thru before you. I think you should take 1 or 2 of those bricks to heat on your woodstove and set at the bottom of your bed in cold weather to warm the bed. Let the past add to your warmth - literally. You are a dear and gentle man. The world is a better place because you are in it.
@thebossoftheswamp10 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the kind words. I really appreciate that you have taken the time to share your thoughts. I have never heard the term "inukshuk" before. I don't stack the stones for marking anything specific, I just stack them because it makes me smile to see them still standing when I pass through again. I guess it's just the kid in me that thrives on simple pleasures. I may gather a brick or two, just to have a token from years past. I don't need the heat with Frankie around but I'll find another use for them. All the best to you.
@mukwah111110 жыл бұрын
thebossoftheswamp Inukshuk's were made by the Inuit (Eskimos) to guide passers by in the direction of where they could find camps, villages, people, warmth, food, etc. Usually there are 'arms' to the inukshuks which point to these places - made from ice blocks or rocks. As you can imagine it was quite lethal to be lost on the tundra - not knowing which way to go. Perhaps your 'Inukshuk" as it stands is a direct reflection of your own life at present - not being totally sure of which way you will go from here ...........

@thebossoftheswamp10 жыл бұрын
I will be doing a lot more filming there in the future. Some of the carving on the old head stones amazes me, knowing that they were all carved by hand. I can't imagine what a task that was back then. I walk around in a daze with my head full of history when I'm up there. It's a wonderful place.

Often, at least here in Texas, the bent tree like the one you had lunch in are old trail markers. Indians and the later cattle drives and settlers would tie them down and they would grow that way as a permanent way to mark a trail.

OOOOOOOOOOOOO! I love your space. I live in Missouri, and we still have a lot of woods, but they're milling all the old trees and my soul cries. When city life traumatizes me and my psyche needs healing, I always run back to the trees and the rocks. Thanks for sharing.

Love what you said about the ole pioneers just using what nature provided. Every month most of us spend money on electricity, water, cable TV, Internet, call phones, car payments, insurance, mortgages, etc. It's interesting when you think about that list of monthly expenses... with the exception of a house and water, everything in that list has been invented sometime in the last 200 years and most folks back then built their own house (i.e. no mortgage) next to a creek (i.e. no water bill). When you think about it; we're really wasteful with our money.

Ello Frankie :) What lovely walk that was .. Thank you It is actually amazing what you can feel & pick up with objects or area's, because every where we go there is residual energy left behind. Well this is my thoughts & beliefs. I have experienced it, I have done & do psychometry. Everything we touch past or present or live in or have been we leave behind residual energy. Like an imprint. I explain it to people that it's like when you walk into a house or area & you either feel "Oh I don't like this" or "Hmmm feels so peaceful here". That is because you are picking up or feeling things from other people's residual energy that has been left behind & imprinted in the surroundings/objects. Thanks for sharing .....

People now a days have to have instant satisfaction otherwise its not worth doing, I'm with you Boss a slower pace in this life is what God ordered for me and my family. Great video sometimes I feel like I'm out there with you and Franky enjoying the best entertainment on this earth, God knew what he was doing.

Bre Lanae I wish there was a state, a town, or even a county where people could go where everyone lives the old way. The Amish have that going on.

Great video JC and many of your awesome videos sure bring to my mind David's 23rd Psalm, in so many ways... One of the reasons God made us, was to love and enjoy and relax and fully take in nature,creation and a simpler life... God Bless and Thank you for the Blessing my friend...You are the boss and shepherd of seeing nature as it should be seen and experienced...Sincerely, Dana~

Boss, you've truly inspired me. A little ways before I turn 30, I've found myself caught up in the rat race. With little time to get outside to hunt, fish and generally just enjoy the outdoors and that which I love most, you give me direction. Everything you have always seems out of reach for me and I often make concessions for a new appliance or some un-needed 'stuff' to make myself happy or to gain status, etc. You have exactly what I truly want and I'll get there someday. Hopefully sooner rather than later thanks to your videos. Thank you and keep doing what you love!

I bet 99% of my viewers that dream of a simple life already make 10x more money than is required to do so. The problem is we saddle ourselves with a lifestyle we don't really want and keep busting ass to afford it. Most folks would never believe what little income I live on.

Thought of this when you said you needed to clear your mind. Ive heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some from behind. But ive brought a big bat. Im all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me! Dr. Seuss. Love that you built the cairn I do that all the time. Early bow next week here in NY may the deer gods bless you and your arrow fly true. God bless.

Lol on the Dr Suess. Words well spoken. Not sure if I'll make the early bow season this year as I've got too much on my plate with the cabin projects. We'll see. Good luck to you.

Very nice video. When I come up on old homesteads or foundations lie this, i too think about their history. And the hard work put into clearing the land I'm sure the farmer who built that foundation had to do to make a life for himself and his family.
@thebossoftheswamp10 жыл бұрын
The country up there is very wild as you can see in my videos. You can find foundations miles off the pavement. Being so wild and remote today, I can only imagine how isolated people were back when horses were your only form of travel. It's a pretty cool place to explore.

The bricks were probably made on site. I work in the little town of Winchester, Illinois, and it is full of brick houses. I was told by the locals that the bricks were all made on site.
