You know, if a few qualified people from ETR Nation would partner with you on this to do the heavy lifting of the financial, business and maintenance aspects I think you would enjoy and be able to continue working on it. Retirees who've always been fans of railroading might really like using their life skills to help in various ways on a part time volunteer basis. Or, you may find that a few entrepreneurs from ETR Nation would partner with you in in a formal way. I think you could easily build a great team. Anyone want to head up the HR department and get things started? As an alternative maybe this could be organized as an educational and preservation non-profit organization for the restoration of abandoned railroads? I'm sure someone else has or will mention this, but I would strongly recommend investing in some sort of multi use tractor (skid steer perhaps) that you could use for multiple things around the yard, thus justifying the purchase price. Of course this tractor would need a brush-mower attachment. This would increase safety (you not being on the ground mere inches away from flying debris) as well as increased productivity and reducing the potential of you getting heat stroke etc.

That's alot of hard work but it does look awesome. If it were me I'd go and get a skidsteer or a mini excavator with a grinder attachment. You could not only clean all the underbrush but with a excavator you could trim back all the overhanging trees make your entire R. O. W. clear and not be such hard work. Yes it's a cost to rent but well worth the faster cleanup and not as strenuous on you. Hope all goes well with the sale but it be regretted if you not remain a part of the ETR when it is sold!!

Not long after this channel started, I suspected it was just a pipe dream and nothing would ever become of it. The reason: he constantly was underestimating the amount of work required on projects, and using equipment that wasn't big enough for the job. It would take him forever to accomplish anything. Instead of a channel about building a railroad, it's been more of a view of a guy playing railroad.

You should have rented a flail mower mounted on a tractor. In about a course of 3 hours you would have had all that vegetation mowed down. The flail shreds the growth and would make it easier for removal. You wouldn't be pushing but riding in a protected cab and you could have gone to a nice diner for a decent lunch as a reward for your efforts. The goal is progress with the least amount of energy spent.😎🚂🚃🚃🚃✝
