"Show me your friends and I'll show you your future" An old concept, yet is refreshing each time it is taught. Today you showed vehicles, though I figured they had to exist, I never knew what they looked like. My next thought was the coordination of the teams operating them, to get things back on track, is on a whole different level. Those are the folks that do help create a better future. Thank you for sharing. Also a dozen videos into this journey, the improvement in front of the camera, behind the camera and in the editing rooms, is marked. Nice job!

Years ago, I took my 6 year-old son and his friend out into the country somewhere north and west of Chicago to see a fresh, major derailment... engines and more than a dozen cars. Seeing that great mass of mangled and off-track metal left a memory he still has some 25 years later. Your video here schooled me on the science , engineering, equipment, and courage involved in resolving these large-scale accidents. Thanks for that,

I know others have commented on our low volume issue and here's why that matters. I can turn my computer up but when I'm listening on headphones and accommodate your volume and then an advert comes and BLASTS me with the volume, that's why it matters. where I worked, a "re-railer" was called a "frog." Appropriately, a de-rail is a "toad." Dad was a General Yardmaster at a large rail yard. Any time he got home, looking frazzled it usually involved the words "Hulcher was called." I think some days actually had him looking back to his time on Okinawa with nostalgia. Other days, you had to sit back and laugh, the comedy that came out of nothing going as planned was something nobody could dream up. Sometimes even the stone faced trainmasters had to join in.

I have some questions: 1.This line will be a heritage line or a freight, car storage line? 2.This line has a railroad crossing? Will it have lights or just a crossbuck? 3.The rails from the line will need to be replaced or not?
@itsameman4 жыл бұрын
I believe he has addressed these questions in previous videos.
@BattleshipOrion4 жыл бұрын
1. It will be a freight terminal line, their right-of-way is only 5,280 feet (one mile), If you count a SW1500 (at the largest) as heritage than yes, otherwise no. 2. Probably a crossbuck for now, as a protected system costs alot, even for a basic buck & lights kit. 3. The rails will need replaced eventually, I dont think that they are worried about that now.
@eastterminalrailway59754 жыл бұрын

Hi Brian -- I love your series: it all builds up into a very interesting holistic picture of the industry. Although I've always loved railways, I still don't know what it really means to live live by the rails and your channel's helping me see that. It's also teaching me that networking with people (not network by rail or even internet) is how we can learn what our niche in life might be (I found mine, working with young kids in a foreign language, by meeting my wife). Anyhow, if you're up for a hypothetical scenario for someone in your industry, how about this (again, hypothetical, not real, no one's been contacted yet and it's only a bunch of text in a comment). I know you love the practicality of diesel, but for glamour and tourists steam still has the edge I believe. So, if on a google search page you copy/paste 7HMP+2M Jackson, Michigan (something google calls a plus code), you'll get a map location of GTW 5030, a Class j-3-a Baldwin Pacific 4-6-2 loco and tender that was parked there in 1953. It's on a small siding detached from the original line, now part of the Adrian & Blissfield RR. Gross weight of the loco I believe is 223,000 lbs, tender is maybe 58,000 empty (data from steamlocomotive.com Locobase ID 14097 ). It supposedly needs a rail weight of 81lb / yd. So, assuming a move to a location like Owosso MI (Steam Railroading Institute, workshops), which is accessible by both road and rail (but I have no idea of the bridge capacities near the town, would need to check MI Dept of Trans.), in your mind would it make more sense to send by: a) flatbed truck b) rail, using some kind of dummy truck rig to roll on its own c) rail, using a flatbed car if by rail (starting on the Adrian & Blissfield aptly named JAIL line next to the site), would you: 1) temporarily rebuild the spur with a switch to get to the track 2) Lift the load directly from the spur over to the rig or flatbed already on the line (a distance of about 165 ft straight south). In any of the above scenarios, who could I then "network" with that covers south central Michigan? Also, just out of curiousity, what's the rail weight limits on your terminal railway (if you don't mind telling)? Thanks! Ted
@teddelphia15424 жыл бұрын
By making a rig with dummy trucks, it would be something like these ones currently on ebay: www.ebay.com/itm/Rail-Car-Dummy-Truck-4-Wheel-Bogie-Short-Tall-Pillar-Height-/184106959792 (as of 1/4/21)

Maggio's legal department might want to get in touch with CBS whom owns the copyright and trademark of the MightyMouse character. Any work done by Maggio with equipment with that trademark image is subject to severe fines and confiscation of those funds. Seriously, they need to get that logo off their equipment immediately to avoid a nasty lawsuit later with all that equipment confiscated, and the company sued basically out of existance. Do you really want to do business with a company that doesn't respect copyrights or trademarks? Do you want to be associated with such and risk having your railroad have leins placed on it as well for Maggio's illegal activities? You risk a lot by doing business with such groups. I'm not sure your company's existence is something you want to place a bet on against CBS. Might want to cut ties from Maggio.
