I doubt very much that that will ever happen. And I wonder what the city would look like today if there had been no Second World War. I suspect it would look very different. Glasgow was much the same in 1945 as it had been in 1939 but today it is very different to how it looked in 1945.

Am Ende wohnten Sie in der Hartungstraße Querstraße der Hans-Sagen Straße :-) Diese wurde ca. 1943 erbaut. ich dufte meine Oma letztes Jahr ihren 90 Geburtstag feiern und Sie interviewen. Aber wichtiger ist für mich die Beziehungen zu uns Deutschen und Russen. Leider ist die Politik auf ein Holzweg. Jeder Russe ist bei mir im Hause in Deutschland immer Willkommen. Ich teile nicht alle sin Russland aber ich liebe die Menschen in Russland. Sie haben Herz. !!!!

Your somewhat incorrect, the British only destroyed 40% of the former city. But the Soviets destroyed the rest. After the war the city was in ruins and the Soviets had no interests of rebuilding it because it would have taken forever and it was cheaper to reuse the bricks for Stalinist flats and or clear way for concrete blocks. Even the castle still survived up until when the Soviets burned it down and then later destroyed it. In 1967

very tragic and heart breaking to see such a historical, cultural and architectural treasure gem get destroyed like that, reading the last message of the video and find out that the the German was still fighting till April 1945 when the fight was already in Berlin, what's the point? total madness, the city got destroyed completely, a large part of the city could have been saved as well thousands lives if they surrendered way before that day, same goes to most of Germany, whether if its Berlin Hamburg or any other city, the war was lost and the fighting was going on inside Germany from east and west, instead they kept fighting and dying and Germany got destroyed and turned into rubles, when i see pre ww2 videos of Germany, I almost cry even though I am not a German, such a beautiful country

As someone who has visited Germany over 20 times I find it very sad that so much of pre-war Germany no longer exists. What a pity that the Germans of the late 1920s and early 1930s could not foresee what would happen to their country if they voted for the Nazis.

the war destroyed many big cities but the time afterwards destroyed even more buildings because it had to look "modern" and "street friendly". More buildings got torn down after 1945 than what had been destroyed in the whole war...let that sink in

Wenn ich ehrlich bin, ist es mir z.Zt. sogar recht, daß die Ostgebiete unter polnischer und russischer Herrschaft stehen. Und was angloamerikanische Bomber nicht schafften, schufen in der Nachkriegszeit die Stadtplaner. Ob Köln-Chorweiler, Duisburg-Hochheide, Jena-Göschwitz oder Halle-Neustadt. Alte Substanz wurde abgerissen und seelenlose Hochhäuser wurden an der Stelle errichtet, wie in Königsberg auch. Überall wo Sozialisten walten, wächst buchstäblich kein Gras oder keine schöne Innenstadt mehr .... 😢
