Question: So is John 6, “drink my blood “ about communion? Catholics use this verse for substantiation. My evangelical friends say it is not referring to communion. They say there is no magic in communion, it’s just symbolic. Lutherans are somewhere in the middle? I feel like our problem is that we are not remembering the whole story, we are disconnected. 40years as a Lutheran and it was never explained to me - the roots. All I knew was he died for me. Can I Suggest that we integrate these verses into our lectionary? Or devote a Sunday every year to understanding communion?
