🇲🇹 The One and Only Mosque Masjid in Malta. Mariam Al-Batool Silver Dome Mashjid. 🇲🇹

Mariam Al-Batool Mosque, Paola, Malta (2023) :
We went to this gorgeous, silver domed Masjid for our Jumma prayer , Alhamdu'lillah.
It was raining, but the Masjid was full.
Subhan'Allah, such a beautiful Masjid.
This is the only purpose built Masjid in Malta, located in a small town, Paola, approximately 15 minutes drive from the city center, Valletta.
The construction on the Masjid started in 1978 and finished in 1982,when it was opened to the public. It has a capacity of 500 worshipers and officially opened in 1984. There is an Islamic Centre and an Islamic school adjacent to the Masjid.
The population of Malta is around half a million, and less than 8000 are Muslims. Malta has a fascinating history that goes all the way back to the Roman period. It was ruled by the Arabs in 870ce -1091ce and Islam is believed to have been introduced to Malta during that period. The strongest legacy of Islam in Malta today is the Maltese language, and most place names are Arabic. Most of the old Islamic structures and old Masjids were either destroyed or converted into other buildings during the different eras. Today, there are hardly any signs of Islamic history in the whole Island.
