The one at the lakes in the Empty Quarter | 76 Overland

Hi there, we are Jules & Elske and we travel with our Toyota Landcruiser 76 series named Billy. Welcome to our KZbin Channel.
On this channel we share our adventures. Since moving to Saudi Arabia in 2014 we truly fell in love with going outdoors, camping and exploring. At the moment our content is shot in Saudi Arabia, this will change the moment we finally start our dream trip: travelling with Billy from the Netherlands to South Africa following the West Africa route. We had to postpone our trip, but hope that borders will soon start to reopen again.

We did had an epic 8 day adventure discovering new areas in the empty quarter and in this video the last few days of our trip in the Empty Quarter where we get to spend a lot of time at the lakes and drive out through a for us completely new route.

Great videos!! Loved it!! You guys have to visit eastern province in Saudi as well. We have great places for offroading and exploring "Yellow lake" in Al Ahsa and Al Qara mountains, a place you should visit

Yes the last bit in the video is on that road, the scenery is amazing and road is open! Only gasstation at Batha Junction, Shubayta and at the border.

Very shallow! The one we swam in maybe 50-60cm deep. There is one much deeper, but last time this one was very smelly and hard to get in because of the bushes. The other big one is super shallow maybe 20cms?

Do you need special permit to go to those areas or close to the border?

From what officials told us it is illegal to come within 10km from the border. Other than that nope, a year ago at least you didn't

It’s sulfur water, it even has the smell of egg whites. You can drink it by leaving it away from the source in the sun for a day.

Those tourists! I swear by God, got almost run over by one of those groups while out alone in the Rub alKhali. The water in those lakes is polluted, stagnant and full of bacteria btw. I would not swim in that.

All water is full of bacteria btw! .. What pollution are you talking about? It is rainfall water in the middle of nowhere!

@@lllllMlllll How often do you think it rains? If you don't believe me go and drink the water. Film yourself. This water is extremely stagnant, I'm surprised no one warned them not to swim in it.

We swam in the water on numerous occasions, over several years. Never anyone in our group got sick. Although obviously we never drank from it. From what I understand it's a natural spring. But I am not sure..

@@76Overlandyes it gushes from the ground continuously otherwise it would have been dried out long ago, so not really stagnant water
