It was Gary Burghoff (Radar). Apparently, the feeling was quite mutual. Also, Alan and director Jackie Cooper didn't get along.

i loved lt. flagg. such a touch of crazy at a time when patriotism was questioned. having lived during that time when neighbors were questioning each other's politics and pointing fingers, his over-the-top portrayal was something with which i could relate. it was so true, but they helped us to laugh at how ludicrous it was.

The loss of Wayne Rogers was extremely detrimental to the show. His replacement Mike Farrel never measured up to Roger’s. The first three seasons were the golden years.

I disagree. To me, the show actually got better as characters were replaced by people who were in my opinion an improvement. Winchester and Col Potter are good examples. Radar was not missed either.

When the show ceased being funny on a regular basis, the end was very near.

I liked the second season so much better than the first, it got better when McLean Stevenson left and Harry Morgan came in, but I liked Frank Burns and Charles the same, I missed Frank but loved Charles at the same time! But the second season was just better all way round. And thank you for this, I did not know some of these facts like Harry Morgan's wife's picture! That was very fascinating to me!

I never liked hawkeye. I found him ugly, sexist, histrionic, and not funny. He reminded me of a beta, trying too hard to be alpha and it was off-putting.

It's too bad that Alda didn't like Burghoff. Apparently he though Burghoff wasn't that intelligent. However - Burghoff has been a professional Jazz drummer for most of his Life - thinks in poly-rhythms. Not exactly brain-dead to be able to do that. Alda was a bit of an elitist - thought there was only one way to be intelligent. I was not that much of a fan of his . . . he was no Donald Sutherland, the original Hawkeye . . .

Amazing how he had a head of beautiful looking hair, then it seem like it all disappeared in one week, now he's bald.

Wayne Rodgers was great. Better than Mike Farrel. I only watch the first 4 years. The show slowly declined when Wayne Rodgers left.
