What if we have all been duped and Houston is not the player we have been thinking? I read an article recently saying he may not even make the team and it actually made sense. I had to take a long look at myself and whether I have been overlooking some things regarding Houston. He got cut once his rookie year due to not being able to set the edge, cover, or be a solid help on ST. Of course he showed pass rush juice in a few games, but struggled in the first two games last year. Then he wasnt used once he got healthy in the playoffs. Now he has been struggling with the linebacker role and the coaches have removed those responsibilities from his plate. They have said they dont need one trick ponies and need a guy who can do more than one thing. I think they were talking about Houston. If he can ONLY rush the passer and is a liability everywhere else, how many snaps will he get? Also, how can they use him effectively if EVERY time he is on the field the Lions are tipping their hand because Houston only does ONE THING? How effective can he be if every team knows whats coming if he is on the field? How many roster spots can they keep for a guy who has one trick and its not that helpful in the long run? Im just posing the question because I have been a huge Houston supporter and had to question if that was all just a flash in the pan from him being an unknown quantity as a rookie.

Davenport is all about the bull rush and power where Houston has more natural bend and speed. It’s gonna be a good rotation
@chickennuggetking3132 ай бұрын
I think there's one more piece to the puzzle to add in our defense, the secondary rotation is great. But there's one more piece to bring in for the defensive line & pair up with Aidan Hutchinson. Offensive line will be decent & get rhythm within Passing the ball or running the ball. Pass rush will help us much further than just another NFC championship appearance. Imo.

They were on the door step of a superbowl last yr with the defense they had, I push back and say with at least a top 15 defense they can win it all 🤷🏾♂️. A top 10 D would be nice but a top 15 defense this year would still be a vast improvement over last year.

What's even more oppressive about James Houston. Is that he's coming from the blind side. Most teams best tackle is on the Left.

There are no missing links. Unable to keep players we have now. We have over 60 keepers and only 53 roster spots. Enough of trying to bring others in. The chemistry is there now.

Football is won and lost in the trenches, if you can shorten the Qb’s clock you can control the game. The corner’s just need to be competent imo. On paper I think our d line is nasty, wingo I think is going to be a rookie standout.

C'mon guys everyone knows the Lions biggest obstacle is always the man in black and white stripes. If they do their job without messing up or creating a new rule Sam Francisco was playing in Detroit. The men in stripped suits don't control the entire narrative but they certainly have an unbalanced influence.

Excuses?? Y’all lost lol. It’s not so much the stripes it’s the league in general. Receivers shouldn’t have the advantage when there’s contact on a play. It should be physical there should be grabbing. Being a good wide receiver is about separation and route running. If you can’t separate then tough shit. The sideline ball pass interference bs has to go.
@MonteCarlo-rx4hu2 ай бұрын
@@Yoozer88 it's useless to explain but I'll try. Refs control narrative. A Detroit loss in Dallas equates to more money for the NFL with Stafford facing the Lions in the first round. A monetary incentive existed for the NFL. Refs are not the be all and end all but they push desired outcomes. If you're blind to that? Watching a legal play be determined illegal? This is only recent history too. ThatsGoodSports has a good show on how the Lions have an unparalleled history with always being on the losing side of the most profitable narrative from an unbiased perspective. Id say for my comfort you're a communist. If you cannot consider the governing body doesn't control outcomes and has no bias? Well, you'd side with the government every time making you biased. If you can acknowledge bias towards the desired outcome for the government? You don't think the government has a biased outcome to its own interest? Refs are the police of the NFL. You don't think police lie? Lol, it's not an excuse it's a perspective. Much like the real sovereign citizen in society the police are fair and not biased towards how they are incentivized? My point is you're the joke when you laugh about intentional injustice. Are you a cop?

The Lions missed they're chance at the SB, THE PIECE MISSING IS OPPOSITE OF Hutch, and JUDON was available for a 3rd, now it's too late all the difference makers are gone and the Lions never addressed they're need. I had them picked to win the SB this year because of the GLARING WEAKNESS, but the didn't even try. I don't think they'll go very far even if they do make the Playoffs, unless they make a trade.

Chill out, if i was a head coach, I would not publicly shout out all who were doing good. Why tell the opposition the players who are excelling!? Id hide the true stars until it’s game time. I have lots of faith in our coaching staff. Especially our GM, he’s made a few flops with receivers but 90% of his picks are incredible. Id say the lions are in a good position. Ngl. Injuries are the biggest concern but I feel that our players are gonna be nasty this year.

I think you’ll be in for a pleasant surprise this season when you watch the work Terrell Williams has done with all different kinds of molds on that D-line. Mostly Levi.

JUDON DIDNT FIT THE SCHEME! Jesus. This fanbase is ridiculous (subbing for another R word). He has never played in a 43 He isn’t playing LB in Detroit. He isnt replacing Hutchinson at LDE The role of the RDE is something Judon has never done. And it’s not like you just ask him to do it. If you people wanted LB rushers, you needed to whine when they moved from a 34 to a 43. This fanbase celebrates that whenever it happens and never realizes your top sack getter in the 43 is your left end. Then 3 tech. You only rush on a handful of snaps. If you hate it, point the finger at Hutchinson for not getting home.

@@TheSpeakEZPodcast buddy, I love you. But you HAVE to stop using the phrase “confirmation bias”. You use it incorrectly constantly and it is a NEGATIVE phrase. It would be something a Bears fan would use to say you are delusional. It does not mean what you think it means. Confirmation bias is when someone disregards facts and only cherry picks the ones that CONFIRM THEIR OWN PREEXISTING BIASES. Meaning ignorant delusion. Every time you say it, I cringe because you are basically saying your opinions are biased and not based in facts. You can say a piece of news or a comment confirms your thoughts, but saying “confirmation bias” is not the same thing. Its bad. All bad. 😂 please, brother.

Confirmation is the word you are looking for. Not “confirmation bias”. Unless you mean to insult yourself every time you say it. Im trying to help you out, brother. That phrase has a specific meaning and it doesnt mean what you think it means. If you dont believe me, look it up. Please do yourself a favor and look up how that phrase is used in context.
