I think "Devil" fruits are actually Dream fruits. We have lots of DF users that use their fruits ability in such weird ways that clearly overstep the boundaries of said fruit. (most absurd for me beast pirates zoan usage I mean they used their dinosaur bodies as launchers lol) They all give people the same ability in essence: The power of your dreams coming true if you accept it. End of One Piece people will not use the Fruits to become lawless and to oppress others but to make everyones dreams come true. That is Luffys dream, too. He wants everyones dreams to come true. That's why Luffy got the most powerful DF of all and why the fruit "chose" him. It fits the man who can liberate everyone in their freedom and dreams. The power to make your imagination come true. Pirates are the freest people in luffys point of view because shanks inspired him. He wants to be the king of free dreaming people so he can inspire them to live their dreams and be free just like him. The world government and Imu force their own dreams on others and enslave them while Luffy as King would give everyone their freedom so people would join in living their dreams. The Will of Dreams. That's why Luffys dream is bigger than anyone elses because everyone elses dreams are a part of his own. The strongest conquerors user. And Shanks is someone who made it his dream to help the person who wants everyone elses dreams to come true. The Pirate Kings Knight. The Pirate Kings heart. Coincidentally the strongest conquerors user we know of. The Strawhats reaction would fit perfectly with that, too imo. They all love Luffy because THEY KNOW he's just being honest. Haki is the power to foresee dreams, shatter them or be unfazed by them and PUT SOMEONE INTO THEIR DREAMS(knocking them out) I wouldn't be surprised if every strawhat gets a unique conquerors haki ability because the crew of the dreamiest man will start to dream big eventually, too. The voice of all things is the power to see the dreams of everything in essence. That's why Luffy can understand the language of everything. That's why all the kids look up to Pirates because kids still dream just like pirates in One piece. Luffy might get an incurable disease like roger and is about to pass away but his own dream gives room for choppers dream to cure every disease so I doubt Luffy will die. I think the dream is to tie all the islands together, starting from his home vilage, symbolized by the One Piece title, and luffys shirt in the first panels in the manga where he is wearing an anchor, so people can travel freely. Robins reaction fits to me because she has some clues that the world was more connected in the past, and Jinbei, being the helmsman knows how hard that would be, but is excited, franky mentioning he has to be the pirate king to make it happen, since you kind of become one if you reach the final islands, etc. It's a big stretch, but I can see a kid saying it, and I can see a grown man, Roger, saying it too but meaning in a more metaphorical way.
