​​@@Timmycoowell ofc the show has some diferences compared to the anime and the manga Id say if the show peaks your interest then pick up the anime and go trough it Ofc the thought of 1000 eps may scare you and the old school animation is for some off putting but it gets better as arcs pass And yes i highly recomend it East blue arc is just the begining after that its a wild ride

I know all the chars in the trailer and quite a few things (mostly from people showing me highlights) so I think that might be cool to at least immerse myself. My sister wanted me to get into it during COVID and I couldn't bring myself to start that sort of thing with that daunting amount of eps lol. Still is on my watchlist though. Just finished the whole first season and I can confidently say that this is absolutely the best anime live action adaptation I've ever seen. Some scenes were a little cringe to watch and sometimes the editing was slightly messed up but that never took away from the experience. Casting is perfect and it only gets better for the future episodes.

As for the overall rating, clearly below 8, I can give it 7.5 if I'm not in a good mood, and probably 7.9 if I'm in a good mood, and one of the causes of that rating is the lack of fighting skills and short-time fighting scenes like in the anime, and a very average CGI for fighting scenes. As for the plot and story, easily above 9, I can give it 9.15 for most, but overall, One Piece built its hype because of a good fighting scene, after all.

​​@@MonostaneI wouldn't call that cost cutting, but rather a clever director decision - Jurassic Park did the same, they showed the T-rex in dim light to cover difficulties bringing it to life, some things (like buggy chop chop cannon) would've looked nowhere near as good in broad daylight. Although I do agree with others somme fighting scenes could've been longer and less stiff, I think this comes from the fact that the actors performed their own stunts (which is admirable in its own way, but no matter how much you're trained, it's never gonna be as good as a stunt man or Jackie chan lol)

this episode has gone so deep with the lore! the mr 7 we see fighting with zoro isn't the mr 7 we know. according to one piece wiki the mr 7 we know from the anime replaced a former agent that had the same codename that died in an operation(the manga didn't specify what that was) and considering the ODA approved everything in the live action we know now that the mission the previous MR 7 died on was to recruit zoro! it's only 1st episode and this shit is so deep in the lore it's amazing!!!

I'll tell you. Basically I fucking hate One Piece. I tried many times and I couldn't get past episode 50 or something. I just can't. I don't like the way it's drawn, I don't like the colors, I don't like the grotesque side of it, I find the rhythm of the storytelling boring. But this was fucking fire. They won me in 5 minutes and I binged the whole series in one night. The casting is perfect, the rhythm and the ambiance too. Every scene is spot on and I can't wait for the next series. So yeah, it's gonna bring more people in, be sure of that.

12:04, Mr7 that you found are the succesor of the mr7 that Zoro killed. Mr7 that are killed by Zoro never apear in manga, but are mentioned by Mr1 in chapter 190 (episode 119). They also mention that, the previous mr7 tried to recruit Zoro but faild.

Mr. 7 is a former Frontier Agent of Baroque Works, being half of a sniper duo along with his partner, Miss Father's Day. He replaced the previous agent of the same codename when the latter died in the line of duty. He was cut by Zoro

Netflix clearly learned their lesson from the Death Note debacle. "If you're adapting an anime to live action, RESPECT the SOURCE MATERIAL!" And this was the original Number Seven, who Zorro DID kill "Off screen" in the Manga and anime before he met Luffy. He was replaced by the time the crew ran into the new 7 later.

It was really good. We know there is no way we gonna get 1000 episodes, so the way they are mix and matching to make the story flow faster, but still giving enough time to develop characters and relationships is good. Might be biased since I already know the story...?

That zoro actor is used to doing martial arts. You gotta watch him as a villain in Rurouni Kenshin. He's Enishi. The fight scene was even 100x harder and he did them all himself. The final fight was mindblowing.

Nick, you should watch the live action of Ruruoni Kenshin! Zoro's actor portrayed the main antagonist in the last movie. I think you might like the fight scenes too if you liked Zoro's fight scenes here
