Chelsea’s January seems built around the assumption that they’ll get Osimhen in the summer so maybe an attempt at a loan move for Wilson would be the smarter choice, however unlikely. The issue would become that going into next season there literally isn’t a place for him in the squad. As well as that, judging by Wilson’s injuries he might end up in a full body cast by week one.

Reading between the lines it seems fairly obvious that Osimhen's in the bag for the summer so any striker bought now would be a six month investment. Minimum requirement for that would be a player who can be counted on to stay fit so Wilson's a non-starter before getting into if it would be smart or not.

I’m not sure how I feel about this deal. I hear it and in theory it’s perfect. We create loads but don’t score. Wilson scores when he’s created for. The logic is there. But there are issues. The first glaring one is the fitness issues. We already have too many injury prone players. Having our goal scoring become reliant upon an injury prone player, with our medical department, means the issue isn’t ACTUALLY fixed. The second is that I think people just underestimate how often our attacking game plan relies on Nico receiving the ball, holding off his marker, running into the space and passing it off. That’s how we get up the pitch. You look at our creation with Jackson and with Broja and it just looks so much more toothless. Can Wilson do that hold up? 3rd is that we’re going to go for a long term option in the summer up top. We’re gunning for Osimhen. I would rather have Nico as our back up for the long term than Wilson for another year that leaves Jackson with no game time. I just think any time the words “short term” pop up for Chelsea they need to be avoided. We either need to 100% commit to long term gain short term pain or scrap the plan. It’s too late to scrap the plan. We need to just stick to a cohesive transfer strategy

If Chelsea wants to pay anything close to £20m for him, I think most Newcastle fans would snap your hands off, when fit he's a great goalscorer and powerful centre forward, but that only makes up about 30% of the season on average, he also has a horrific fitness issue where it seems to take him at least another month before he ever looked close match fit and at that point would just end up breaking down with another muscle injury.

And while they got decent money for Mount, you're always going to get decent money for a still relatively young, england international, going to a rival club. If United had been a little smarter they'd have just waited and got him for free. Jackson slander is so tired and boring. 7 league goals in half a season, at 22, in a shit side, finishing at a better clip than Nunez (similar age, cost more than twice as much, more experience, worse in general play). That's a decent return. They were never getting an elite striker last summer, because of no Europe. Not even to mention Hojlund, another player who cost twice as much, who doesn't get chances because he just stands there being a big lump. Ridiculous how much unwarranted stick Jackson gets.

I like your analysis, its mostly accurate compared to many channels I've seen. But you never talk about what Chelsea do good. The past few games chelsea played well. Even in games where they lost or drew, the past ten games are worth analysing.
