Many businesses don't do this and should, always verify requests especially for payment changes elsewhere.

Thank you for all the info. I was hacked three years ago. Bought a well-known security software program, a 'no 1' advised VPN, and still no joy. As a layperson, I can see that my privacy is not secured. Looking forward to more advice.

Good advice, Josh. And it's not that difficult to do; I only have to DO it. And you're right; there's nothing wrong with just saying hi. 🙂 Next step - share this video with my family!

Also might be good for the family to have something like a shared secret password to verify authenticity. Something that's shared in person for everyone to know the secret word. Just another layer of protection

Hi Josh, this a very good video! 👌 My parents received a similar text message of scammers that pretend to be me. Luckily they called and after talking to them personally over the phone, they where relieved to here me confirming the I did not send that message. Lot’s of greetings, Dennis 🇳🇱

Very good idea ... your video of Privacy and security changes was very good also ...BUT, I almost missed clicking because of cooky looks on some videos, and the raggy Tshirts. I suggest less dramatization on the thumbnail and more professional attire, because you need to be heard by more people ! Appreciate your advice.

I thought you were going to say never make a password file in Excel, and certainly don't call it "password file. A variation on "verify elsewhere" would be to tell your octogenarian parent or grandparent NEVER to respond to unusual requests for money without verifying with some sort of birthday or city lived in or vacation place or some detail that only a trusted requestor would know. With this older generation, baby steps are often required. It is so easy for them or really any of us to fall prey to those scamming bastards.
@AllThingsSecured2 жыл бұрын
That would probably work too, but social engineering can be a very tricky thing.

Hi! I've got a question, So i accidentally deleted one of my email account on my phone, but I'm worried about my Google authenticator, the google account that i removed was the first email i put on my phone when i downloaded Google authenticator, now that I've deleted it, I'm wondering if is it the Google account or my actual Phone that's connected on the google authenticator? Like if something happens will the email account i deleted be the one to recover my codes?

I need help, what happens if someone you are living with is accessing your network and devices, how can I provide more proof is there a way for me to email you?
@justsomeguy51032 жыл бұрын
Just make sure any devices that are logged in to your accounts are locked with a password, PIN or similar. If using shared devices, always log out of your accounts after use, and make sure no passwords are stored in the password manager on the device.

Artificial Inteligence or AI is now able to impersonate your voice so a FaceTime or Zoom call is now a better way to confirm. All they need is a short sample of your voice like from your Voicemaill announcement on your phone. But let your loved ones know that it might not really be you on the phone calling with an emergency where you need money fast! Time for another video Josh. 🙃
@AllThingsSecured Жыл бұрын
Maybe so. The solution here is to have a “safe word” or phrase that only you and your family know. In that way, AI or not, you don’t have to worry.

I think you should take another look at vpns and do a overall review of every single big one and find the best one. I have seen your website and the vpn reviews but you are recommending Nord VPN and some other bad ones which is know for how shady it is and known for giving away information. Also a common way these company’s are know for being the “best” is by marketing and giving away a bunch of money to maximize marketing and make everyone believe them. So I ask why did you chose a vpn like that as one of the top ones? Am I missing something here? Also if you do decide to do a review don’t forget to cover how express vpn has been bought by a company know for doing shady things, just to make everyone aware. A solid vpn option I have found is Mullvad, currently one of the only ones I trust. I love your other reviews but this one just does not seem right and I wanted to make you and others aware
@AllThingsSecured2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. I’ll tell you the same thing I tell everyone else: if you’re using Mullvad because you think it’s somehow “more private” for your sensitive data, you’re making a big mistake. A VPN is not a real privacy tool. Period. If you’re wanting privacy, start looking at dVPN solutions or Tor. I use Nord and Express because they stream content fast.

I believe Linus from LTT got hit and might've prevented the error if he'd verified elsewhere. If you've seen the video in which he mentions it you'd not be surprised that he was caught off-guard. The very first thing I thought of when I saw the title of this video is a paper shredder. So much for a paperless society.

Wow, I didn’t realize LTT had been hit with this same kind of scam. Crazy.
