Solid video, i owned 017, 037, 039, 043, 143, 149 etc and this SJE093 is the most true to form of them all, I love it. I put mine on a 20mm tropic without any issue as my 19mm quick release tropic style is a hair smaller go figure so 20mm works best for me.

To preserve the vintage vibe of this watch, your best option is UNCLE SEIKO. They sell 19 mm tropic straps that would fit this watch.

I put mine on an Aquastar Tropic strap. Isofrane, Tropic and Aquastar are all owned by the same company, so it’s a legit Tropic brand strap in 19mm. It’s a freakin AWESOME watch!

Great video. Re 19mm tropic straps...Aquastar sells the genuine high quality Tropic brand (with a capital T) 19mm straps in both black and gray. That seems to be the best hi qual option. Just a shame for this price Seiko didn't offer a top quality strap with 2 long pieces and 2 short pieces to get the perfect fit...or just make the lugs 20mm to make it easy on us.

First, great video. Terrific production. Thank you for the care! As much as I want to put this watch on my wishlist, I won't for the mid accuracy and pretty dang poor power reserve. If you have a one or two-watch collection, then fine. But otherwise this is going to be a pain.

Very well done. I highly recommend an original Tropic strap from Synchron. It is long, but very supple, best I've Tropic I've tried, it lives on my SPB143

I got mine a couple Erika’s original MN straps in black and grey. They’re comfortable, look good, and custom to your wrist size and come in 19mm. Also Synchron original tropic straps are under 19.7ish mm even tho they say 20mm. Squeezing in seiko’s fat spring bars squeezes the lug width to 19mm.

Great video man. I own this piece and it was great to see some awesome photography of it. FYI- the Sla017 didn’t have much more power reserve with the 8L movement. The SPB143 did but much less accurate in real world. And Joseph Bonnie tropics look most like the very original having a rounded end. The 20mm fits perfect with no noticeable squish and the length is great.

I own two of them strangely one has a noticeable after light grey dial while the other has a darker grey dial, I put a StarpHabit FKM tropical style strap 20mm without zero issues it fits perfect as it may be a tad under 20mm. I have a nice blue on one and a black strap on the second one.

@@wristviberi was notified by a good dealer that a customer couldn't complete the purchase so I grab the second one for 2.7$ new out the door, but yeah one clearly has a darker dial that's odd and kool at the same time I think.

Good job on your review! Just realised it is actually your first so here is a sub from fellow SJE093 owner (005X). As for my opinion the watch is totally beautiful and the quality is obviously there, is it worth the money? Yes and No. For me yes the heritage, design, and craftsmanship is top of the Seiko line Approaching GS level. And No, consider it came with a silicone strap making it feel even more expensive. But I did bought one, Did I regret it? No at least for now lol. As for strap I think you can try Tropic one the 20mm can sort of fit in a bit tight but still possible but you will need a new spring bar for it. The original one is too thick. Also congrats on your engagement and I will looking out for you next review cheer!

Oh yech, the strap I find it a little too stiff and had to leave it on a watch pillow for a while now it start to get a little curve but still I doubt that I will keep that curve.

I just ordered another 19mm tropic and a couple natos from cnwatchstraps. Excited to see how those will change the feel of the watch 🙌 I have loved my SPB143 for many months and two days prior to getting the call for the SJE093, I upgraded its bracelet to an Uncle Seiko's oyster. But now it is already up for sale. The SJE just knocks the SPB143 out of the park. Obviously, you shouldn't compare the two since the SJE093 is like 3x the price. @@Leturane I believe it is the same for me. Think it is normal for the movement. Personally I don’t mind it. But that is prob because I wore an SXK with the 7s26 movement for like 3 years straight and it takes that movement like 3 hours to change the date very slowly and another 2 for the day to shift 😂 Though we should appreciate the quick snapping date with our sle. The 6r37 in most the SPB divers start changing like 1 1/2 hours before midnight 😅

If the MSRP was cut in half, I think it would be a nice watch for a smaller audience, if they would be fine with the lower-than-competitor accuracy, and that being a generous statement for seiko, as even under 1000 euros you can find heritage brands with SW200 selite movements that outproform this seiko movement...

@wristviber I would either go up or down in budget if it was for a singular watch. For the money in watches, I would start with a Laco Pro fliegere with the a-dial, that has thermally blued hands, sw200 and sapphire front and back and 200mm screw down crown, and incredible QC for 1000 euros, then get the seiko spb special edition with the blue iceberg theme for around 1400 euros and then have a lot of money left over for other things. Or, on the other side, if set on high horology Seiko and not necessarily a diver model, I would be looking into Grand Seiko dress watches or possibly finding an interesting King Seiko. I see the SJE093 as a great watch, I would just not personally have gone for it at the price, with all the interesting great watches around 1000 euros from heritage brands and also Seiko's own lineup, all though I tend to prefer watches between 33 and 39mm depending on type of watch, and my 38mm seiko diver I do find as a ideel size for my wrists.

A 20 mm strap, rubber or leather will fit a 19 mm lug width. U have to squeeze the top, but they do fit. 👌 👌

Hey Andreas, fedt efter 17 år som Rolex sports/Omega Speedmaster collector (nye & vintage) endelig at opleve en dansker levere så professionel anmeldelse af et ikonisk ur 👌Og tro mig, jeg har set alle ur seriøse uranmeldelser lige siden Hodinkee startede som en lille "bolchebutik" på Manhatten med 3 ansatte. Jeg er faldet pladask for den større diameter og smukke skive på SLA-043J1, men er bekymret for højden på hele 14,8 mm uagtet at den til dels skyldes krumningen på safirglasset. SJE093´s højde er væsentlig lavere, og da begge ure er udsolgte og sælges med premium nu og kun i udlandet, er det svært at afprøve i praksis om SLA'en sejler rundt på armen. Har du hørt om eller har viden om at det er tilfældet i dit Seiko bagland? Mit SPB-149 er lavere og er ikke repræsentativt desværre. På forhånd tak!

Mange tak for din kommentar, den varmede virkelig 🙏 Jeg er meget enig I at SLA043 er et fantastisk ur med en helt umenneskelig flot skive. 017’eren var længe mit ”grail” helt op til SJE093 lancering. Jeg er personligt tiltrukket af lidt mindre ure, derfor overtog SJE093 pladsen hos mig. Men med det sagt, så er SLA043 ikke noget stort ur. SJE093 er bare det mindre. Jeg giver dig ret i at det er lækkert med et tyndt og slankt ur. Men min erfaring er at vi typisk overreagere en smule når det kommer til højden på et ur og som du selv nævner, så ser tallet lidt skrammende grundet glasset. Kassen er slet ikke overvældende i min optik. Jeg har desværre ikke selv prøvet SLA modellerne, men jeg vil referere til Tudors Black Bay Pro hvilket som udgangspunkt er et ret tykt ur. Men grundet den mindre diameter, fungere det så fint på håndleddet. Jeg vil endda påstå at det er fedt med lidt topvægt. Det fremhæver uret en smule og gør at det kan mærkes som det redskab det er bygget til at være. Så længe lug-lug og diameter passer dig godt, ville jeg ikke være bekymret for højden på SLA043. Jeg er sikker på at du vil elske uret for hvad det er. Men for at svare på dit spørgsmål, så tror jeg ikke at det vil sovse rundt på armen, nej 😆 Jeg vil anbefale dig at blive medlem af Facebook gruppen ”Seiko Watches”. Der er over 100.000 flinke medlemmer som alle er klar på at hjælpe og jeg har set mange opslag om SLA043’eren. Slight correction. The SLA017 didn't have a 70 hour power reserve, it had 55 hours I believe.
