Great track and video as usual! The FM 2-OP is probably one of my favourite osc-types. Modal is good too, but the last ones introduced with Firmware/OS 5.0 are really dope! #kiss

Couldn't agree more! When it comes to grit I think the FM (if tuned correctly) can give you a lot. When detuned, it can go very experimental which can also be very cool for Atonal techno

Delay THEN reverb is usually the optimal setup in my experience, because reverb is also essentially very high level delay + physical space modelling for "bounces". Or atleast that is how I think about it. Proper and simple delay is far more predictable. I'm sure it is possible to add delay after reverb, yet then you are probably enterring a realm where EQ functions and or side chain compression ducking is required to prevent frequency clutter. (Multichannel fx routing also works, yet that is usually not done often in dawless setups. Like you could split the signal and apply reverb to the lowend, and then delay only on the high end. Or whatever. That is like 'parallel fx routing' or something? Idk.)

Oh, man please explain more about this awesome fucking kick. How it is routed ? Do you use overdrive on octatrack filter?
@alt3rnatywa6 күн бұрын
Only it's not the kick itself. The kick itself doesn't do the trick. Only the introduction to the kick gives you that feeling. The balance between frequencies is important
@jessinrodenburg77286 күн бұрын
it's probably due to the mixer, you can hear it with the effects alter as well, slight distortion

15:40 ish. Whenever I hear that sound I am so tempted to up the tail/release value on the filter and then use a very slight wobble on the LFO(with long attack). Basically it sounds like the same sound and then does a very subtle wohwuhweuh at the very end. Post-dubstep(or maybe where dubstep originated from) has ruined me lol.

8:25 Sorry if this is a techno beginner's question. What is the trick that makes the sound like the horse chasing you after the kick described here? I've never been able to get this sound with my techno setup. I would like some advice on this trick.😢😢😢🎉🎉

First of all there are no beginner techno questions so it’s good you ask and it’s great you’ve found me. Also I’d like to thank @sutorillaszo512 for pointing it out. I’d like to add this. There are very many ways to create ‘techno rumbles’ (as they are called). Sometimes I make my own. I have 3 tricks to offer here: 1. Try a delay fix on your kick and tweak. Less is more here. 2. Play a full 16th roll with the kick and lower it’s volume to 30% except for kick 1-5-9-13 3. Get a kick from a sample pack that is already done and dusted (like the one you hear on this video). Sometimes simple wins the race

Really good video, as all of yours, if you have to choose one of this synths for tecno (labyrinth, dreadbox typhon, quadrantid swarm) to patch with the behringuer Edge and model cycles at drums, which would you choose? I could afford one now, then more. Thanks!!

That dude out of I think Berlin uses almost only a Juno synth for most of his keys. (TribalNeed is his handle I think?) The Juno synth is goated for sure, yet maybe kinda expensive. Honestly, most hardware or software has a place and a potentiality of sound and functionality. Especially when routed well or used with an FX daisy chain.

I always half joke about how AK is kinda keeping i_o's memory alive. Not many modern artists currently understand how to create dark rave combined with trance and melodic techno. There is a very fine line between corny and awesome. Also: artists often get tunnel vision in one way or another. One of my favorite songs (deadmau5 - Strobe) was almost deleted, yet one of Joel's friends was like "nah bro...that is an amazing song". He got so much tunnel vision that he did not realize he had perhaps created the best song he ever could create.

@averageXIAOHONGSHUenjoyer Example: I just listened to Cisco Ferreira as per your suggestion, and in many ways a song of theirs from 1989 sounded very much like more "club friendly" form of aphex twin. Then again, aphex twin sometimes reminds me of 5000 years ago when humans were just chanting while hitting stones, rocks and animal skins stretched over hollowed out logs lol. If they were on shrooms lol. The reason I mention i_o is because he loved those sample or synth based rave chords. That still sounds great when played properly. And AK also often uses that style + rotterdam style.
