“Feel the fear and do it anyways” is my favorite quote too!! It has been my major life motto since separating from my ex-husband.

The bravest version of me is learning to be comfortable to stay put instead of falling into the pattern of literally escaping via travel, as that is what I found myself doing. I am learning how to be happy and excited and passionate no matter where I am! And then when it’s safe and I’ve overcome that fear, I can go back to traveling not to escape, but to enjoy ❤️

You absolutely have to learn to find comfort in being uncomfortable! It’s so important to learn to face that fear. I’ve gotten so good that I now seek that out because I know it gives me an exciting adrenaline rush to feel accomplished and badass! It’s gotten to the point that me choosing to settle here for a year or two is TERRIFYING. My comfort zone has become living on the edge and being nomadic, settling in one place makes me feel stuck and anxious, but I know it’s the right thing for now. I do love the distinction of pushing yourself out of your comfort zone vs something being WRONG. That can be a difficult distinction to make, its so important to sit with that and learn to identify which one it is!

The bravest version of me would leave my friend group, who are not always accepting of me. I am afraid to, but I definitely want to!

so you are able to study abroad for 4 years? I and my husband are moving to japan he will be going to school for free on the GI BILL but when I keep researching it says you can only study abroad for 2 years because of residency issues I'm so confused.

It depends where you study abroad :) I studied abroad in Scotland which was at the time EU so it was no problem for me 🥰

Hi Laura, I follow your channel and am a subscriber. I usually love your videos but today I am a little disappointed. I know you were empowering others to follow their dreams and not let anything stop them. And I think this is great, however, I think you can do this without putting people down. Don't say 'don't be a quitter' or don't say that if you are not able to travel the world that you will not be living an extraordinary life. You have several privileges (such as one of the most powerful passports in the world, financial stability, a supportive family, etc.) which others don't. I have a friend whose UK visa was denied because he has a handicap which he was born with, which the government felt put them at risk of high medical costs should anything happen. My funding was cancelled because of economic concerns with the global pandemic. Another friend was making plans but is now stuck at home caring for her mother who is chronically sick. There are many many other factors - this does not mean that any one of us quit - or that we will not have extraordinary lives. It just means we will adjust and adapt and try something else or try again or whatever. Maybe we won't go abroad and that is also okay. Just saying.... don't put anyone down in order to lift others up. AND I know that this was never your intention, and I am still a fan.

Thanks for sharing this Carol, I so appreciate your feedback and honesty. ☺️ Yes you are right in saying I have a privilege, many study abroad students do. 💛 I hope my videos show that I am so grateful about what I am able to do, because I know that it’s nothing I can take for granted. When I talk about traveling full-time etc. those are simply examples of what I personally define as an extraordinary life. I always encourage you to find your own definition of a dream life and an extraordinary life because everyone defines it differently. 💛 Also know that if plans change/challenges occur/ obstacles arise, this is NOT quitting. Don’t ever believe that for a second. ❤️ You are doing amazing things and I love that you shared the examples of yourself and your friends. Thanks for this reminder. We are all making the best out of any given situation, even if it’s uncomfortable. And that is the message of this video: to become comfortable being uncomfortable. 💛 All I say with this video is that no matter how you feel - it’s okay and you are not alone. It’s okay to change paths - actually it’s part of the journey. Thanks again Carol for being here and sharing your feedback. ❤️ Laura x
