Very cool, my school has some of these still installed in a part of the building built in the mid 90’s.

back after I left being an automotive mechanic behind, I was questioning what I was meant for lol. KZbin started suggesting me all the fire alarm videos I used to watch and I was like "Oh yeah! I used to love fire alarms!" So I browsed EBAY and bought my first one. Still got it, it's an Edwards 877-7B 001 speaker strobe. Looks just like an 892. I thought it was pretty neat because I cant find much on this speaker strobe lol. Soon after I got a job with a Fire Alarm company and 1 year and a half later im still goin strong, my collection has gotten HUGE and still growing, 3 working panels on the wall, 5 in total (Just got an MS 9200 UDLS from a demo job today with a bunch of old 2400 series smokes, wheelock devices, etc) and Im proud to finally say I found what I wanna do for the rest of my life lol! Got my FAL Recently and about to get Notifier Certified to program. That being said, I love this video and can relate. Makes me wanna get one of these haha! Love the video as always man

I'm pretty sure that since my high school has Simplex T-Bar pull stations, if I bring one of my Simplex T-Bars to school, whether that be the one I currently have or the one I'm getting between Thursday and Monday, a staff member would probably think I took it out of the building.

My old elementry school has these but they were side mounted instead of standing up. They were located in the Library which was added on. I remember the teachers telling us how loud they are. The rest of the school had the 4903-9101. The kindergarten section which was added on in the early 2000's had the true alert alarms. The rest of the classrooms had the silent modern simplex strobe. I believe a few classrooms had the speakerless true alert unit. The school is obliviously still there I just don't know if the old 9101's got replaced or not.

First alarm was an exceeder. My elementary school had them. I was scared so much of them that I grew to like them, so I got one. Then a bg12 came in. And just recently I got a panel and a MT.

Oh man, I can super sympathize with this. I noticed that we have some of our favorite devises in common, like the Halon BG-10 and 450. Something similar to this video also happened to us recently. I remember not long after I became a fire alarm enthusiast, but before we got our first alarm, our parents took us on a road trip, and one of the stops was a college that had several Gamewell Vitaguard boxes mounted outdoors on poles. I became extremely excited and fixated on them, because it was the first time I had seen a Gamewell box in person. In the years since I thought about them a lot, and hoped, but didn't expect, that if they were ever removed, I could save them. Fast forward more than 12 years, and by sheer coincidence, not only did my brother and I end up going to that college, but we lived in the exact spot with the Gamewell boxes. At the same time, even though I was away from my whole collection, I started learning a ton of more stuff about fire alarm and security systems that made my love for them grow stronger than ever before. Another amazing thing is that fire alarms show up in various E-Waste bins around campus, allowing us to get some really cool devices, that not only had I wanted a lot already, but they were part of our own school! At one of these bins, I met one of the fire alarm maintenance people. They were super kind and we talked for awhile. I told him about my collection, he told me about the systems on campus, and at the end of it we exchanged contact info. Unfortunately, over the summer, the part of campus that we had called home for the last 2 years was torn down almost entirely. I saw this coming, but they seemingly had torn down more buildings than what was originally planned or published. I and many people I spoke to were surprised and saddened to learn this, but something good for me would come out of it. Turns out, the guy I had spoken to had saved all of the Vitaguards, and gave one to us! I am so happy that I don't even know what to write about it. It's literally a dream come true, finally owning a specific device that has been so important to me for most of my life. On another note, do you happen to know the physical difference between the U-HN and U-HNH, and which simplex devices use which horn mechanism? I always liked how they sounded together, but all 6 we have either are or have the U-HN mech.

Wow. Congrats on getting a fire alarm that began the whole thing. I’ve always wanted a fire alarm ever since the college campus I attended had its fire alarms replaced prior to me graduating. However, since the words “government” and “funding” got in the way, that prohibited my hopes and dreams.

Pretty cool you still have the one you had for a long time! Though I wonder what happened to the horn of the old one? Though it's nice you finally got to hear what one sounds like with the new one. Also interesting knowing there are people who liked alarms since childhood, since I remember for some reason I was obsessed with them 10-11 years ago. Though I only ever obtained 1 alarm and still have it.
