@yamasaer2 жыл бұрын
Is it same as frame trap?
@solstice8712 жыл бұрын
@@yamasaer No, frame trapping is leaving a gap between attacks in pressure where the opponent can press a button, but your sequence hits the opponent before their attack can come out.
@6JLU2 жыл бұрын
@@yamasaer I think they are two different things. Daigo explained 2 concepts. When you do an air attack, you have recovery frames on landing vs. when you just jump and don't attack. When you knock enemies down, you can use certain moves when enemies are knocked down so that your next move executes on the correct frame, like maybe a meaty attack that lands its last active frame which might give you a frame advantage. The Tanaka setup uses the air attack to add extra frames of recovery compared to a regular jump so that Kage's crouching hard punch lands at a later active frame making it 0 on block. A frame trap is when you use two separate attacks that leave enough of a gap for the opponent to press something, but not enough for them to actually hit. The purpose of the former concept is to time attacks perfectly, the purpose of a frame trap is to trick the opponent into opening their guard.

Nah lol, that setup is legitimately useless
@kevingriffith60112 жыл бұрын
The trick with setups where they rely on the opponent not expecting it is that the answer to them can't just be the answer the opponent was already going to do anyway. I can't see a reason *not* to go for "crouch block into delay tech" against a setup like that, it's a pretty universal response to meaty attacks at the distance this tech puts you at. The cross-up version is very telegraphed, too, so it's not like you're going to be catching people with that who aren't asleep at the stick.
@EliosMoonElios2 жыл бұрын
Wrong, that is a noob's trick to make timing easier, PROs don't need it.
@plannedtuna82932 жыл бұрын
@@EliosMoonElios Pros use framekills all the time. The problem with this one is that it literally doesn’t accomplish anything XD. There’s no reason to meaty someone with cr HP in the first place, not to mention the setup not even staying on the same side if the opponent quick-rises. Edit: To speak to your point though, while I agree that high level players don’t necessarily “need” framekills, they’re used because they make things easier without necessarily having any drawbacks. Just because you’re setting up a framekill for a meaty doesn’t mean you can’t still just throw or shimmy your opponent
@kevingriffith60112 жыл бұрын
@@plannedtuna8293 What makes this one so bad isn't so much that it's meatying with the C.HP, it's that you're landing EX tatsu (a powerful combo extender) and then opting to ignore all the possible damage (and any potential oki you can get off of that combo... which there are many) to get... just a meaty mid hitting attack that leaves you +0 on block.
@Y20XTongvaLand4 ай бұрын
For anyone interested, this concept is called a framekill. Put yourself into a position where you're locked for a guaranteed number of frames and you have a better indication of when you need to act after you're no longer locked in. From what I know, the best framekills are when you can immediately press a move after the framekill and that gets you exactly what you need. otherwise, it just creates a more narrow window for you to recognize which, I'm sure, makes it easier. I think 15 frames is a lot easier to calculate than 30.

For the sake of Context... If you haven't been following the Channel for years a lot of older references may go over the head of some viewers who happen to be recent or newer subscribers. The Kage Bronze Tanaka Setup is a classic video from over 2 years ago, if it wasn't added to this video it would make less sense to Daigo's explanation because he wasn't showing it in Training Mode as opposed to when he did in the older footage. You need to understand that when your xter jumps that there is a frame window where you can press a button and the attack animation will come out regardless at the last possible frame *EXCEPT* for when they are about to touch the ground (frame 1) and slightly crouch upon landing (frame 2). Within those landing 2 frames of animation, your trip guard is inactive even if you hold block and you can be punished if your opponent times their attack frames perfectly (ie Daigo's anti air sweep with Guile). Likewise if you press an attack button within that landing frame recovery window, no startup or active frames will come out until after. The point of the Tanaka Setup is to whiff a jump attack with a Heavy Button to buy yourself more active frames before you land so the recovery animation doesn't kick in upon landing and you can immediately press your advantage with a meaty attack instead of a light attack (which logically has less frames of start-up) tldr - It's a frame kill technique.. 🤷
