The One Train Tunnel You Can Actually Enter: The Nellis Train Tunnel

I remember getting my lockpicking to 100 just to enter this tunnel because it was one of the few Very Hard locks I had come across. When I entered, the tunnel was so buggy, ghouls would fall through the floor and you could clip through walls and get under the floor. 13 year old me thought it was intentional and sort of an Easter egg and that's why it had a very hard lock.

Fallout NV is one of few games that glitched into ones favour or amusement. Had a fun glitch in VATS landed crit + bloody mess on a dozen Raiders but they didn't explode during the VATS cutscene, They simultaneously exploded when entering First-Person again. craziest but coolest glitch ever.

for whatever reason I remember not being able to exit the other end of the tunnel. Think I only ever went here once. Thanks for sharing not many people even try to get in.

If the Boomers were smart about self-preservation, they would've used their explosives to collapse their end of the tunnel, so as to avoid this exact thing from happening. A hostile enemy force, like the Legion or even the NCR, could invade their base via this train tunnel.

But also it could be an emergency escape route for them if they were ever overwhelmed, so they aren't backed into a corner and wiped out

If I had to guess they probably put the Frag Mines there. It's wouldn't be much but it's something. Also as the other commenter mentioned they could also have a plan for using it as an escape tunnel if they needed to

Bro I remember spending hours looking for this train tunnel during the boomer quest because I didn't know how to survive the artillery. Its so far away from Nellis and behind a very hard lock thank god I asked my friend for help.

The guy that warns you about the artillery tells you about the tunnel I think. I never knew this was a safer way to get to Nellis however.

I remember when the game had just released I tried going this way once. Everytime I picked the lock and loaded in my character and the ghouls would clip through the floor and fall into the abyss. Never attempted it again. Not sure if it was just my xbox 360 or a release bug that was patched later on, but I'm just used to booking it to the gate and being bombarded.

It's the Dinner Bell shotgun you get from Red Lucy, it also looks like they have the "...And Stay Back" perk to knock down the deathclaws
