It's actually much less Doom than you would expect. Even without the turn-based combat it still feels more like Fallout Tacics (where characters still act takig turns, but instead of just waiting for their turn they wait until their AP will regenerate to attack again, and can freely move and do other stuff while they regenerate). It's much less fast paced than you could expect (especially if your Agility / Max Action Points is low). But definitely much more dynamic than the original Fallout 2.

If you want something that’s actually more doom-like, then I suggest looking at Fallout: Bakersfield, don’t know much about it and still don’t know if it’s even real or just a big troll to the internet but if it is real it will come out to GZDoom, I’ve heard it’s pretty much Fallout 1 in the doom engine, this however, is what people seem to be calling Fallout 2 but if it were like daggerfall

@@ursidae97 that's a very fair point 😊. I'm just massively attached to the original isometric design. Fallout 1 was one of the first games I ever owned. Hopefully the FPS version won't take away from the atmosphere and aesthetic of the original.

Yeah no. If Bethesda or someone in partnership with Bethesda would make remakes of the old Fallout games they have to be up to date or atleast close to Fo4 or Fo76 in gameplay and graphics. This is cool i guess but thats just because the alternative is an old boring turnbased game. For the time it was good but thats also because they didnt have another choice, if Fallout was made today it would not have been turn based or anything at all like how it was released.

Play the originals first, before this. No mods. Perfectly worth it. I'm a loooong time fan, and can tell you- its quite the show.

You should totally give them a try. If you want more dark humor, absurdity and fun, and more content and more polished game engine (but also probably one of the hardest first levels in videogame history ever, lol) try Fallout 2 first (just remember to create a character with 10 or at least 8 points in Agility, to have 10 or 8 Action points and be able to shoot twice per turn, and also a good Perception and at least one weapon skill, or you will SUFFER since the first minutes of the game, and I _mean_ it - you literally won't be able to hit a thing otherwise and will shoot/punch once per turn and get 2-3 hits from every enemy every turn and won't be able to run away from your enemies because they'll always outrun you of your Agility / Action Poits are lower than theirs). If you want a shorter game with less polished engine (meaning that the controls might be a little bit less convenient and all) darker and more serious vibe, somewhat less content (inlcuding weapons and items variety and less enemy types) but also a (somewhat) easier start (and a time limit, so you'll get a game over after playing for some tiome if you won't understand / take care of what you are supposed to do, so it is normal if your 1st playthrough will end with "you ran out of time, everyone died, game over") then try Fallout 1 first. If you can't handle the turn-based combat and old visuals, maybe you should try Fallout Tactics. It's not your typical Fallout game, it lacks the dialogues, is pretty linear and is not turn based and has mostly real-life 20's century firearms insted of all futuristic guns of othe rFallout games, and you control a squad of 1-8 characters at once, instead of just 1 and a few companion NPCs controlled by the AI, and many people used to hate it back then, like now they are hating Falllouts from Bethesda, but it still has some of the old Fallout vibe, I'd say (and driveable vehicles too! From Humvee and Buggy to Sherman tank and heavy APCs!) Oh, and there's also various FOnline servers (it's an MMO mod for Fallout 2 engine, and every server is, baiscally, its' own unique game, different in many aspects), and Olympus 2207 (a really great Russian Total Conversion mod, or, rather, a brand new game based on Fallouit 2 game engine, but that has completely reimagined pretty much everything - new visuals, items/arsenal, game setting / story / quests / NPCs / levelling system... But still feels as if you're playinmg the original Fallout 2 - but made in a parallel universe. Definitely worth a try.

doing a millionth playthrough of fallout 3 rn such a great story i found a really weird bug glitching into the citadel at level 2 and rushing through the vault87/raven rock sequence and then trying to do the final mission without ever doing GNR or dad and the game completely breaks its hilarious sarah lyons is in front of liberty prime acting like we are infront of the metro near GNR encounter telling me to watch out for super mutants and all this stuff ahaha

Only thing I don't like is how fast you kill things everything seems to die in like 3 or 4 shots with not much difference between them ie some things like death laws and century bots should take more bullets to kill than a raider dose yet from what I seen is they all die at the same rate and dont really seem to have much of a threat to the player as you can legit j2walk right up to them before they even notice you and even then they are slow and don't really do much and again they die way to fast, I would like to see the enemy's become more balanced with faster movement speeds more health and possibly more damage they can cause witch would make them more of an actual threat to the player
