@@jangyman the brakes go from Tektro or SRAM to Shimano in 20-21. Driveline goes from SRAM to Shimano. If you plan to have all servicing done at a shop, and have no preference to components, it is likely a well suited bike for you. (I know this is 4 months late) I have a 2021 Comp due to arrive in 2 weeks and I can't stop coming back at this video just to look at it..

I'm slowly compressing to 6'1" in height, and was wondering the same about bike height. I'm just a beginner researching but, from what I've heard/read, either L or XL would be fine for our height range ....where XL would offer more stability, and L would be more reactive on corners etc. Does that sound right? How are you liking the Fuse Comp 29 so far?

@@jangyman I'm loving this bike! I'm getting more and more comfortable & confident with every ride. I'm going faster and faster each time, but I'm still learning the local trails by my house. One of my main goals is to not kill myself, I still haven't gone down on the bike, but I'm sure its coming eventually. When I first started riding the bike I had different people telling me either "You should have went L" or "XL is the right size you" until I get a chance to ride the Large, I won't know for sure. This is the first time I've had a bike with a dropper post! I love it!! I think the dropper post also makes the size of the bike not so important, as being able to adjust the seat height makes up for a lot of things. I hope this is useful.

I would much rather have the Deore 12 speed setup than the SX Eagle. This and the Fuse 27.5 have been on my list of things I want, but don't need. Still rolling on my 2015 Specialized Camber Comp Evo which is, in my eyes, very similar to what bike manufacturers are calling a "down country" bike. Here in central Texas, 120-140mm travel bikes seem to be perfectly adequate for the terrain when combined with larger volume tires. I have been toying with getting another hardtail to complement my full-squish bike, but I am also toying with the idea of upgrading to a new full-squish bike. I really think the 27.5 model would be more to my liking, but I wish it was spec'd out the same as the 29 Comp because I would like the little nicer fork, brakes, and drivetrain.
@a.l.8618
@a.l.8618 3 жыл бұрын
The comp still lacks the ability to accommodate a good rider. Brakes is underpowered…The fork is total junk. My seat is broken after 4 rides. Lever for dropper post is already sticking after 4 rides. This bike is under spec’d. I can take this on trails but the compense are total crap. The bike industry is now for rich weenies. Gotta spend $3,500 to get a decent hard tail…in this aluminum crap frame. So fragile. The bottom bracket creaks already because there are no seals for the internal cable routing. So much chainslap. Not a good chain guard.

Specalized recently raised the price 50 bucks across all fuse models. I wonder if it was purely financially motivated or if any of the specs were changed. Either way I've already paid for mine more curious than anything.
@Jamesthebikeguy

I suspect that is production limitation/cost related. These brands are fighting for an assembly line to get bikes built right now and no doubt that drives up cost. I've seen a few brands with small do price increases recently and I suspect it is related.

I have a new red Fuse comp 29 and I would have snapped up a scout 290 comp if one were available to me. The Bomber Z2 alone is worth it, everything else is almost in line with specs on the Fuse, other than some minor features. Ultimately in this market it's take what you get cause what you really want may not be available until next year sometime :)

I have a Roscoe. Awesome bike, but the fuse comp was my first choice and went with the Trek due to shortage in Specialized bikes. While the 2020 Roscoe was spec'd better, the Fuse is still a better choice considering the adjustable chain stay with boost 148 through axle drop outs vs the boost 141 (odd sizing) quick release drop outs on the Roscoe. Plus the fuse is slacker, which is better for downhill, because let's be honest we all climb for the decent.

@@Jamesthebikeguy I'm 5ft 10. Dealer told me I would fit well on a large. What do y'all think. Bike felt a little large on my test ride, but the sales person said shortening the bar length and a couple adjustments would get me dialed in. Do you think he is right? The Rockhopper Med felt small by comparison. Hmmmm Thanks in advance.

I can’t decided between a Fuse Comp or Chisel Comp as my first real MTB. I have the luxury of having a mountain range with awesome trails but I’m a 100% beginner to trails Im about 20-30lbs overweight and so my MTB skills and stamina are very mediocre.
@Blackjackluck21
@Blackjackluck21 4 жыл бұрын
If you have fast flowy mountain trails the Fuse may be a better option. Fuse has slightly more slack (Fuse 66.5, Chisel is 68 degrees) -and has a longer more forgiving 130mm travel fork. Will inspire confidence to a beginner. Also comes with a dropper post. The Chisel is going to more xc inspired. Will be lighter because no dropper or longer travel fork. 2 piston brakes on Chisel compared to 4 piston on Fuse. Chisel will climb slightly better.

Im just asking.. why does everyone say you need rim tape on these specialized wheels.. they are completely ready to go and sealed from factory.. But everyone says to still seal tape them... I never do. I run them the way they come. rip tube out, put stem in, sealer in and go.. there is no need for rim tape like this dude says

Hmmm. Correct me if im wrong or just ignore me, but why do 4 wheeled bike are called quad bike? While bike means 2 wheeler. then should it be Bi/Di-BIKE instead of a quad bike? Because “QUAD” & “Bi” or “Di” are prefixes. 🤔 hmmm, and why did i say 4 “wheeled bike” instead of QUADCYCLE or TETRACYCLE? Also, why do we say TRICYCLE a tricycle and not TRI BIKE or TRI MOTORCYCLE? Why it is called TRIKE for 3 wheeled but not QUADIKE for 4 wheeled? Don’t mind me just scroll

after 6 rides...these brakes are so underpowered...derailure has play. Have had to tighten my rear axle quite a bit. The tube-less tires can't handle hard cornering. I am only 180 lbs and I keep folding the tires no matter what tire pressure I run or I case it on a root because it's too soft. or just a couple of feet of air means a sketchy landing unless I use the max tire pressure or more... It's great for climbing but at any speed, these tires wash out and fold. I guess I need a heavier tire or something with better casing. But seriously...these brakes are terrible. I might go mullet to make it more playful...it's not as playful as reviewed.

Not chain guard.
