Yes the OnePlus 9 Pro is slightly cheaper but not nearly as good as the marketing material claimed it was. I was looking forward to it because I want to upgrade from my OnePlus 6T but it's hard to swallow those prices (especially for the regular OnePlus 9, which doesn't even have the same main camera sensor, and the frame is made from plastic). It's just disappointing...

Okay.. But why don't more companies produce "note phones"? I've got a Samsung Note 10 Plus. But they have practically NO competition on these phones. Not if you want a stylus that sits neatly inside the phone, and thus is always available.

Sales of the Note are very small, a few million a year worldwide, so the take is that not many people want it, very niche. Even Samsung may only have one more version and they will not release an N21 this year. No company is going to target such a small market. I get that users of the Note are hardcore but most of us do not care about a pen on a phone, we have a tablet or 2-in-1 laptop for much better note-taking and drawing.

Those higher prices change things quite a bit, it's harder to accept these shortcomings when you have alternatives like the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

The big question is their upgrades for Android. Samsung is offering 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security updates. They also offer really generous trade in deals in many areas, so if the Samsung is a couple of hundred more, it may not be as big a deal as it seems. The rest of the One Plus have quite a bit of promise.

Slow updates, buggy software version that takes long to fix or isn't fixed at all till today, and bad camera optics compared to the competition. You only get fast software updates till the next model is released and op just moves on to the newest shiny device leaving your old device in shambles.

10:04 OnePlus completely messed something up with telephoto lens, it is worse quality compared to 8 Pro (everything seem out of focus and lacks detail specially when shooting far things) and video zoom is honestly horrible, it crops in on main sensor to 2X, using digital zoom instead of using telephoto for zoom, while 8 Pro uses telephoto sensor and the quality is actually superb. Hopefully it is a software thing and will be fixed, because 8 Pro really does better zoom with pictures and video. Also Main camera seem to oversharpen and overprocess things, while Ultra Wide is phenomenal and probably the best so far.

I understand that 2-3 updates are due before release, which is a month away. Expect a different camera by release. Compare the s20U at release to a month later, massive improvements. Pre-release software is exactly that. Hopefully, YT reviewers will revisit it when it is released?

So i'm guessing they just don't like phones that are priced towards 1000? Imo the phone is pretty interesting considering you get a free super fast wireless charger when you pre-order. Also you get a charger and case in the box.. When you buy the galaxy s21 ultra you will be paying more for the phone and still need to buy a case, charger and wireless charger... Also the charging speeds are disapointing.

No offense but I don't quite agree that this is their best looking phones. OP9 design looks like iteration from 8t than 8 Pro in my eyes mainly because of the rectangle camera island. Last year's 8 Pro is more distinctive, uniquely OnePlus. The colour selection also more creative and more radiant especially the deep marine blue, so gorgeous plus matte finish ! Again, design is subjective, each to their own I guess. Btw I heard that OnePlus only promised up to 2 years of OS update, that's extremely disappointing :(

While these are undoubtedly the best OnePlus phones yet, the Galaxy S21 Ultra being so closely priced to the 9 Pro really makes the OnePlus a hard sell to me. Samsung has undoubtedly got the superior cameras, with both 3X and 10X optical zoom, far better HDR, and a better selfie camera. In addition with their promise of 3 years of major updates and a 4th of security updates, and given One UI is just very well put together, I struggle to see why I or anyone I know should choose the OnePlus instead.

This is completely wrong. IMX689 is far better than IMX766. It is bigger and supports 12 bit RAW files. (IMX766 supports 10 bit RAW.)

Nearly everything is better than on the S21 ultra. Better Ultrawide wide camera, wireless charging, 65 watt 30 minute fast charging, thinner, lighter, better thermal cooling, no bloatware. The only viable difference i see the S21 ultra has is the telephoto lens. Not to mention the S21 ultra is nearly $200 more expensive, and doesnt offer anything else beside a better telephoto. Not worth $180 more at all, especially the other specs the 9 Pro is superior in.

I am disappointed in OnePlus... They don't seem to care about longevity (Hardware) and value for money any more like they did in the old days. Almost everything got worse with every new product: - No removable battery anymore - No expandable storage anymore - Notches and Punch holes - Curved Screens - Ever larger and more expensive devices - No Headphone jack anymore Every point I mentioned is valid and will be mistaken for old or unnecessary. I'll admit that the a14 is a beast and is the strongest phone processor. But the differences between the 2 phone systems is huge. The Snapdragon 888 may be a little weaker but I can do more of what I want to with it. Plus, I care a lot about software customization which is something Apple has never been good at. If you like Apple's vision, than that is a sweet coincidence. (But I'm not one of those people)
