The more that we, boaters and canal enthusiasts in general, work on the canals and claim them as "ours", the more that CRT. SC and Government has to listen to us and support us. Well done lass. Let's all do our bit.

Fascinating to see this perspective. I had a whinge at the state of the canals and towpaths last year, but I didn't realise how much was just done by volunteers rather than paid for. Really needs a younger crowd of volunteers too!

It is so nice to see the Canal Volunteers doing what they do and the work they put in, also to see Our Heidi working with them too, what a treat that is, a nice gift of logs for a boater that comes along as well, all credit to everyone involved and Bonny looked very pleased to see You back too, Thank You for giving us an insight to what the volunteers do and here's looking forward to your next trip.

Thank you Heidi for another amazing video. Thank you to the volunteers who help keep the canals clean and clear. It’s lovely to see all of these wonderful people coming together for a great cause and having fun at the same time. I love what the gentleman said, you can’t just sit in front of the telly, you have to get out and do something ❤

The trust have to rely on volunteers more & more as funding has been reduced to a point where without the help of the public the canal network would grind to a standstill. Thank you for all of your hard work.

Fantastic! The volunteering looks so much fun and a great way to give back. Its such a pity my local canal the Welland Navigation has long gone. I remember standing on the bridge over the river nene at orton staunch (orton mere) in Peterborough as a kid and watching the lock gate open and close 😁

Good on you Heidi. Hell I’m not even on the canals, I’m not even in the UK and still I comment on the condition of some of the canals. I have had holidays on them so understand some the problems, but really you shouldn’t complain if you don’t do your bit to keep them clean and clear. Gutsy leaving a pirate in charge of a CRT boat, you may have stolen it. LOL. Those weeds are what I comment on most often, having to get into those hatches in that cold water to get the weeds out. Great video Heidi. Stay safe and see you soon. 🥰

If the licence fee were t be reduced pretty sure more boaters would vulunteer n give labour in exchange f discount! Maybe a 'barter system' e.g. 5% for a weeks project.....up to max of 40% ...can be done as n when cruising! The money n costs saved would counteract the losses!
