There is a guy that comes past my house at all hours of the night in a brz. The unequal length headers sound so amazing that if it wakes me up i dont even mind. Do your thing cuz.👍🏿

UEL sounds great down low and idle, but surprisingly the EL has a better rumble in the upper revs.

Best thing about Subaru is that they are 4cyls that actually sound decent. The Uel gives you that Subaru sound.

E Squared TV you can make a Honda sound like that, UEL’s are for ricers. EL means more power

EL is better for power and engine longevity. So basically you choose aesthetics over performance when you go the EL Vs UEL. This applies to Subaru WRX as well. The big HP Subaru WRX, like 600HP+ run ELH.

@@SI0AX yeah equal length headers on 4 cylinder engines have better scavenging therefore more power. But tbh unless you are making a dedicated race car, it's just a few hp gain, nothing you would feel that much on the road.

@@MyHunter9090 It's not really about the HP, the reason you would go ELH. It's about the reliability. A built engine will wear out 2 cylinders faster than the others and you will have to rebuild the engine even though the other 2 cylinders have more life. Also you will have a more even temperature across all 4 cylinders with ELH. Oh, but that mostly applies to the turbo boxer engines. There cars have no turbo and low HP and they usually don't have engine rebuilds compared to the WRX.

@@MyHunter9090 BRZ's and 86's are supposed to be relatives to the older 86's, they were never supposed to be a powerful car or made to sound like a subie; they're lightweight and are great track and touge cars which you dont need alot of power for.

I wouldnt call this a UEL vs EL, this is more of a UEL header vs stock. Yes the stock is EL but its not aftermarket so no sound difference

If you are going to turbocharge, you will have better performance from equal length headers and a single exhaust because the gasses can consistently keep proper pressure and spin the turbo with less lag and with more consistency/reliability. Supercharged doesn’t usually rely on exhaust gas so I don’t think you have the same challenge and UEL and either dual/quad or single exhaust is fine. When changing the headers you will need a tune to have them properly work and not negatively impact your performance. NA is your own preference but unless you plan to tune the car following a UEL install, best to stick to Equal Length.

I agree the Subaru rumble is nice, but their is a reason why they got rid of it. Before they needed to use UEL in order to work with the spacing of the engine, but now they dont. Those of you who like the UEL be aware that this causes two of you cylinders to have higher heating issues that can lead to ringland failure.

billy mckee apparently you are.... UEL’s have cause high EAT’s on cylinders 2 and 4 and scavenge exhaust poorly. With EL’s a STi will see peak gains of 25 whp and max torque gains of 50 wtq gains down low in the RPM range. Also if you want to crack ringlands on cylinders 2 and 4 run UEL’s... and JDM STi’s haven’t come with UEL’s for years, they run a ej207 with EL’s/twin scroll setup that spools way faster then our junk ej257 model and wind out to 8000 rpm....

In my opinion, the unequal length will always sound better. Doesn't sound like a Subie without them. What's with the chirp from 1st to 2nd in both cars?

I wanna see the dynosheet for the UEL headers on an FRS/BRZ. I'm curious to see if the added back pressure helps the torque curve a bit. I have an STI, so I would assume the reverse of what works for me should work for the FA20 in terms of flow and efficiency.

Actually it’s the other way around. BTR Justin did a comparison of the Revworks UEL and the ACE 350 EL. The ACE made loads more torque down low, completely got rid of the dip, and still made higher peak numbers. The entire RPM range was enhanced by the EL header, where the torque dip was the ACE header gained 35 wtq! That’s a pretty crazy gain for a n/a 4 banger

So...As I can see it's possibile. I'm asking this because there is some rumors of Ending EJ Engines. So, the new Wrx Sti will contain the FA20 or FB20 engine. Is there also possibile to install a UEL-Set for making the original bass boxer rumble sound ?

MrTheurucan the rumble isn’t original, they didn’t sound like that until engineers poorly designed UEL’s. Poor scavenging, high EAT’s, high back pressure on cylinders 2 and 4, etc. the fa20dit can’t do UEL’s due to fitment and the fact that they run twin scroll turbos. Can’t do UEL’s with a twin scroll setup. UEL’s are rice. Rice is for posers.

Not a elh, but that one is pretty nice! Theres a kid that flys around my town with an orange FRS that's straight piped and sounds like absolute dog shit. Great job!

EL is preferred if you are going with a Turbo for forced induction as well as for single exhausts. But UEL with tune is great too.

Unequal sounds like a obnoxious ricer... EL or nothing. Run a vibrant ultra quiet resonator with your muffler of choice, no rasp/drone and refines the tone majorly while maintaining performance.

@@benji376 UEL will be more detrimental to the motor if you're trying to make more power (which we know that ricers don't care about power, right?). I'd argue that switching from EL to UEL for that "subie rumble bro" is more "ricer like" because you're sacrificing performance for better sound lol. Why do you think high hp STis (and some lower hp STis) run EL headers?

But for a dedicated track/race car that I only use on the weekends or for the purpose that I just mentioned, I would definitely go with EL. So stop being such an obnoxious punk and maybe have insight as to why people have to choose one over the other instead of insulting them. You sound like child.
