We ended up with 3 braided strings of yellow onions, and 8 braided strings of sweet onions. Thank you for your support this harvest season.

Good looking crop , i'm hoping to plant a crop this year . Question , how long do you let them hang and how do you know when they're ready for the fruit cellar . Your corn shelling vid was excellent , i'd sure like to buy a pair of hand cranker's like you have there , now i know what to look for , i'll keep my eye open . Thanks C.

Hi Cyril thank you! I let the stems get good and dry there on the hayrack then I braid them and give them a few more days hanging. I think the book says let them cure 7-10 days, but I'm never that precise. It's usually when I get back around to them and when I have the feeling there isn't any moisture left in the stem at all. The shellers and grinders are out there on the auctions. Before the whole homestead thing you could pick this stuff up really cheap but now I guess the old ways are kinda back in style. I wish you luck finding the right farm sale and picking one up!

@@OzziesOddities Thanks Ozzie !! The last farm auction in this district was about 15 yrs ago (northern Ontario ) , i think i went to all but one , but never remember seeing that sheller , a very cool machine indeed !!!! Would it make good chicken feed , the corn , say half ground . So the trick is , no moisture in the onion stems before storing , thank you sir !
