Hey, man! Nice video and good to know that you are done buying new sims. It's very easy to get caught in "getting the new thing", as you said, that it is 1% better and keep spending money unnecessarily :P I've been on this journey as well and, fortunately, I've stopped buying amp sims as well. For me, it came down to buying 3 things: Helix Native along with the Line 6 POD Go, and more recently a Laney IRF Dualtop, which is the base of my sounds so far. I'm enjoying the simplicity of the amp head along with the flexibility of having the effects in my DAW (Helix Native) and a "wide selection of pedals" with the POD Go in the physical realm. I've felt that it has helped me simplify and focus on recording instead of tweaking knobs non-stop :D
@DadRockAndGuitars15 күн бұрын
Sounds like a great setup! I wasn't familiar with the Laney IRF Dualtop, but watched a couple of videos. Looks like a really cool amp! The DI out would definitely make recording nice and simple. Is that what you're using in your videos?
@kurtz199315 күн бұрын
@@DadRockAndGuitars yes, the Dualtop is what I've been using lately! And for the most part, I've been using the included 4x12 IR in the DI. I've just started experimenting with Two Notes virtual cabs :P

@@kurtz1993 Your latest video sounded really good 👍The Two Notes cabs are fun!

So many sound great nowadays.I got it down to Softube Marshall Suite and Helix Native.I might look for a Fender Deluxe Reverb and Tweed Deluxe also.But that's added luxury. Amplitube 5 and Tonex is cool too.
@DadRockAndGuitars11 күн бұрын
Yeah, tons of great options! Which is your favorite in the Marshall Suite? I got the Softtube Marshall Plexi Classic for free with my Votlt 2 audio interface and it's really good! It's a stripped down version with just a single 4x12 cab and a SM57 mic, but still sounds great.

@@DadRockAndGuitars I really wish. I have two other NDSP. SLO & FORTIN
@DadRockAndGuitars14 күн бұрын
@@BradRocker I haven't tried the SLO, but it sounds great in the demos I've watched. Not sure if you have the Fortin NTS or the Fortin Cali, but the Fortin Cali was my first NDSP plugin. I use the cab from that quite a bit because it has a cool low end that kind of blooms a bit without being too woofy.
@BradRocker14 күн бұрын
@@DadRockAndGuitars Actually the Fortin Nameless. Such a great one.

Nice job. I own half of these. I recommend Two Rock from Mixwave. It’s on par with all of these. I’d argue a lil better.

Heard about Two Rock when it came out but haven’t gotten around to checking it out. Thanks for watching and the recommendation 👍

Yep. I’ve mainly used AmpliTube and made it work. I’m not a Tone Snob because I’m not at World Touring Status… yet 🤷♂️🙂
@DadRockAndGuitars13 күн бұрын
AmpliTube is great! I've used that for years. I have several of their expansion packs. I didn't really jive with AmpliTube 5's interface for some reason so I just ended up using it less. If it works for you, then that's awesome! And you don't have to be World Touring Status to be a Tone Snob....lots of bedroom player/keyboard warrior tone snobs out there! 🤣 Thanks for watching and appreciate your comment 👍

Universal Audio should give the plugin versions for a BIG discount or free for existing buyers of their hardware pedals, I have the Dream 65 pedal and it's a shame it doesn't have USB interface to record direct and reamp
@DadRockAndGuitars14 күн бұрын
I’ve heard a lot of pedal owners saying that. That would be nice if they did. I don’t have the Dream 65 pedal, but plan on getting one at some point. Thanks for watching 👍

No need to boot your DAW, you can also use any of these plugins in a vst/au host as well for playing live or practicing
@DadRockAndGuitars15 күн бұрын
Great point! I've never actually used a VST/AU host. Thanks for sharing the additional info!

No love for NAM? It's supposedly the most accurate modeler out there currently. And it's free too lol.
@DadRockAndGuitars15 күн бұрын
I've heard a lot of great things about NAM, but just haven't gotten around to checking it out. Unfortunately, I'm not able to get around to trying all of them. But if it works for you and you get the sounds you're looking for, then that's awesome! There are a ton of great options out there these days. Thanks for watching and appreciate the comment 👍

@@DadRockAndGuitars Being free, nothing really stopping you :) It's a profiler just like Tonex and according to Leo Gibson its the most accurate thing according to phase flip null tests compared to all other competitors like Kemper, Tonex, etc

In my case I would say : 1- ToneX 2- Helix Native 3- TH-U 4- UAFX LION (it has its own specific feel I love) And of course free ones : NAM plugin and TONOCRACY. With this you can definitely record hits, professionally.
@DadRockAndGuitars15 күн бұрын
Great list 👍 Do you use any third party captures with ToneX or stick to the ones that come with it?
