I think CSM is okay, it helps you to get into a good job. I know alot of people from my class year who ended up in top design buisness as well as opened up their own company. It is mostly good at helping you with concept generation.

The teachers who teach you are already those who own company and is out there doing design jobs, compare to other university. So thats why you do get more chance landing in a design job at CSM.

To make it clear, none of the actors you showed in the opening clip (Pierce Brosnan and Tom Hardy) went to CSM nor are any of the actors who CSM claim as their alumni actually CSM alumni. They are Drama Centre London alumni - a drama school who partnered with CSM in the early 2000s who CSM have now systemically dismantled and absorbed into their own programmes, fully distorting the name and legacy of Drama Centre London in a bid to enhance their own prestige as an “Arts” university.

Absolutely, you’re right. However in a way I still do consider the Drama Centre London school to be a part of CSM because we’re in the same building. I have conversations with them and we share meals and moments together. Regardless of the name of the school, if you’re surrounded by a group of people who are in the same building as you I think that counts.

The relationship between DCL and CSM is still quite fresh in terms of lifespan and even now CSM has decided to remove the name of DCL and rebrand the school as a CSM acting course with very little consideration of the ethos or teaching of DCL that they do often quote as their own. The vast majority of actors who trained “at CSM”/UAL didn’t step foot in the building. Edit: And don’t get me wrong, I’m not suggesting that the students are in any way apart of the problem. Conversations should be had across course etc. But the institution itself is greedy and destructive when it comes to the arts. They should not be regarded in anyway as friends of Drama Centre London nor should DCL alumni be considered theirs.

I just got in a few days ago for MA Industrial Design, realistically you just need to be well rounded. The guy I talked to said he was looking for people from all different kinds of walks of life, Philosophy Majors, Economists, and they're right now trying to focus on the soft studio skills rather than hard skills. A single beautiful sketch or render won't get you in, a range of different things would though. Didn't even really realize how prestigious the program was until I got in either...

The teacher there said he only had 3 min, when I wanted to ask him a question. I could had been one of those international student who paid £25,000 for 1 year course, just for him to only give me 3 min. it was really bad.

How did you come up with these ideas, where did you take inspiration from? 2. what we need in a good portfolio? 3. can i prepare portfolios in 3 months for foundation programs, what are your recommendations for applying foundation programs? 4. 1 mostly from pinterest etc 2 your best work, but also experimentation! 3 not sure about foundations, never done one! 4 make a pdf with all your best work, not sure on going over as they physically wont allow it Hope this helps!

Hey there Vidhi, I haven't done anything close to the BA Culture Criticism and Curation course. The one thing I do know about it is that it is a super small selection of students that get to be a part of the course. That being said, pretty much all courses in CSM are super small selection compared to other uni's. Hope this helped!

For CSM depending on the course you need a Grade 4 in at least 3 subjects. But try and do the best you can in you GCSE’s so you can get in to a hood sixth form or college. Look at the facilities of the college and sixth forms art department and ask students about the support system and how good it is.
