After the move 5…Be7, there’s a complicated alternative move 6. Bxf7+ that leads to a long sequence of moves. Maybe the White player had seen that there’s refutation there so he did not play this move. Or he did not want to enter complications in this game. This move is the reason why I would prefer to play 5. h6 first and then 6. Be7.
@journeytograndmaster2 ай бұрын
h6 is a slow move, not necessary. Bxf7 is just a bad move, black is much better afterward. But you do need to know a few key lines there. All covered in details in the 10-day Opening Mastery :)

Great explanation. But, pls show only 2D chess board. Very difficult to watch 2D chess board and real chess board in small screen.
@journeytograndmaster2 ай бұрын
Thank you! I don't really get your point with the small screen. Both boards have a half of the screen. What do you mean by a small screen?
@mrs28322 ай бұрын
@@journeytograndmaster I meant watching in my mobile. Most of us play online chess so if you can show only 2D chess board with your commentary, it will be great. This is just a suggestion.
@journeytograndmaster2 ай бұрын
ah, okay, thanks for the clarification. Well, that's actually the key point of the entire format, to have a real board. Also, the chess board has the shape of Quadrat, so you can only cover half of the screen with it anyway.

At @ the 12:00 min mark where his knight is threatening the move to f6, you didn't mention the possibility of moving your e8 rook to e6 to stop that move. Is there any disadvantage to playing that move? Edit: I see after you move your Queen to d7 you then played rook to e6. Do you still think it would have been more viable back at the 12:00 min mark?
@journeytograndmasterАй бұрын
Not really (no disadvantage). It would probably be better as you get an additional Ne8 opportunity. Well spotted!

Basically a Philidor Lion variation... It's just OK. White keeps a nice edge in the main lines. 1...d6 is objectively worse than 1...Nf6 against 1. d4 and it is also worse than 1...c5 against 1. e4. I add that it is also inferior to 1...e5 against 1. c4 and against 1. Nf3 or 1. b3 or 1. g3, there are stronger moves than 1...d6. Having played 1...d6 for over a decade, I can with honesty and certainty state that it's objectively a poor opening.
@journeytograndmaster2 ай бұрын
Thanks for your opinion. Maybe it's just not suitable for your style. I also play play it for around a decade and have fantastic results with it including beating Dominguez (top 15 in the world) and a great game against Nakamura. Not to mentions beatings dozens of "regular" GMs

Very nice! You're the first one that I saw with that board, some videos back. There is a board where the pieces of the opponent move on their own, but no screen. I wish Chessnut had the pieces move on their own, at least an advanced version. I'm not getting one of them anytime soon, but I do want one of them sometime down the road. Great game! Great tips, again! Shalom.

I dont understand why you go so quickly after black plays e5, you never say anything about pxp, pxp then QxQ KxQ black losses the chance to castle

Because I have dedicated videos when I talk specifically about that. P.s. castles is not that important anymore since the queens are off the board :)
