Hey Maria! Thanks so much for watching :) Glad you found this useful! Depends on how often you use your grinder and how meticulous you are with your cleaning regime. If you are using your grinder on a daily basis best to do this process once a week. In saying this I find it is always best to clean more then less :) Cheers.

Quick question: what should I do before use the grinder for the first time ? Not sure if the burr or axie can be washed with dish soap .... thanks

Hey Dan, No worries. Definitely do not was any parts besides the glass jar. The grinder does not need to be washed before use although a quick wipe with a LIGHTLY dampened cloth around the insides of the grinder will do the job. make sure the grinder is dry and grind through some coffee. If you are really pedantic don't use the first 50 grams of coffee. Hope this helps and cheers for watching my video :)

Hi! nice video, clear and informative! After watching I actually got an airblower like yours (giottos rocket if I'm correct) but I do have a question: after I use the blower, the inside of my comandante smells like rubber, not a lot but enough to smell it if you stick your nose in the chamber... and it doesn't go away (maybe sticks to the coffe oils?). DO you notice the same thing in your comandante? I'm worried it could affect the coffee grounds.

Hey thanks for watching and the nice comment :) I personally have not had this experience, I know that sometimes when we get these air dusters they do have a rubbery smell but never enough to transfer into the grinder. Might be worth leaving your duster out in the open for a while before using again, hope this helps. Let me know how you go!

@@TheBasicBarista Well, in the end I sent the blower back (comandante support told me is better to avoid unusual tricks) but I still think the air blower is a great idea, i'll try to find one made of silicone or something else. In the meanwhile I think I'll get some Urnex Grindz to eliminate that residue rubber smell... I do wonder if it's ok on hand grinders though, as they advertise it for electric grinders, but since it's supposed to be natural I guess it's ok.

@@mr.ricochet8603 Cheers for the follow up! Much appreciated. Haha that's funny that Comandante classifies this as an 'unusual trick', some grinder companies even include an air duster in the box. Hopefully that Urnex Grindz does the trick for you, I can't imagine there being a reason as to why you cant use this on conical burrs. In saying this it might be worth following up with comandante to see what they think about using Urnex. Kindest, Liam

@@TheBasicBarista Hey hope I'm not bothering! In the end I contacted Urnex and they said is totally fine, so I went ahead and bought it: I must say is great to reset the taste when I change coffee, works just fine, I endorse it :P. Granted, needs some extra cleaning because if produces a veeery fine dust in the chamber. But being clumsy I had another issue, while cleaning it I dropped the shaft in a pot full of water next to me... I didn't have the heart to bother comandante about this too, I gave it a good clean with a paper towel... hopefully it will be enough to dry under that little ring near the top of the shaft, it can't be removed :P

Just a question, after I clean it and reassemble it, when I screwed to the finest side, the handle still has a bit of wiggle room there, is that normal?

Hey Charles, Thanks for watching and cheers for your question! A small amount of wiggle room is fine. Just be sure not to grind on the finest setting as this will damage the burrs. Hope this helps. Cheers

Hey Yanira! Comandante have gotten back to me regarding your question and apparently it is recommended to add natural oils to the axel, washers and bearings after cleaning. Hey mate, Thanks for watching my video :) Best way to go about it is putting a small amount of olive oil on a paper towel and rub it through the wood grain. You can do this on all of the wooden parts as well as a natural lubricant on the axil and where the wooden knob meets the handle. Don't use too much oil, you only need the tiniest amount for great results. Also make sure to avoid the burrs. Hope this helps :)

Im getting the American cherry , worried about maintenance, I live in the tropics it’s pretty humid here, that might affect the wood or smt 😅 Also how often do you apply oil? When will I know? 🧐 I’m covering my bases before I get one 😅 I’m assuming it’s a glossy-ish finish right?

@@BonEE008 haha no worries :) I think you can also use something like natural beeswax for the wooden outer but I prefer the olive oil. The American Cherry is a beautiful grinder, we have the MK3’s in stock and are waiting for stock of the MK4’s to arrive. I believe the wood veneer is coated with that natural wax balm stuff when it leaves the factory but don’t quote me on it. Haha

@@BonEE008 I have personally pulled shots with coffee grounds from a Comandante. The quality of the grinds is amazing although one thing that doesn’t help is the range between clicks can be a bit large to dial in perfectly. There is a red-clix adapter (we stock these as well) and this doubles the amount of Clicks without compromising the grind quality. For the Oil I used the wooden Comandante for about 6 months or so and I just applied it the one time on the outside. However I did apply it to the internal as a lubricant when I did a thorough clean (every month or so) Hope this helps :)
