As a proud owner of the Eames Lounge Chair, configured with Walnut veneer and black all grain leather (tall version), I can tell any potential buyers the following: It is absolutely beautiful and can best be described as "functional art", as far as living room decor goes. Second, it is a lounge chair. Not an office chair, not a couch and not an armchair. Why people would buy this chair then complain about not being able to sit upright or leaning forward in it comfortably is beyond me. It's not designed for that, hence other types of chairs exist. If you are looking for a comfortable, incredibly well built, sturdy yet plush LOUNGE chair to relax in then you will be very happy with this purchase. It is my favorite chair to watch tv in, read in or just sit back and relax in while listening to my audio books/music. Every piece of this chair is individually replaceable, so as mentioned in the video it will outlast you and your children. Note, not just the cushions or arm rests but everything on that chair can be replaced or repaired. For reference, I am 6'1" tall and I like to slouch while relaxing in it and my head fits into the headrest area perfectly, there is no exaggerated head tilt back onto the edge of the wood "oh my God this is awful" type experience as illustrated in the video. Thats not a knock on the video, I understand he needs to review it from every angle and potential sitting position as possible, but again this is just not something that will happen in real life. Almost done here lol but I would just like to make a couple more points to help with anyone struggling to make a decision... The chair is set to a 15 degree angle, you can not change that but there is "give" to the chair, so its not like you're sitting against a wall. That angle is designed to provide maximum pressure relief on your spine and lower back (which it absolutely does) and has outstanding lumbar support when sitting in it properly. All of that being said, I also own a LazyBoy "Maverick" recliner and it is an entirely different kind of chair and experience. A chair I highly recommend if you're just looking for super plush and soft, rocking and reclining where, when reclined, your knees actually elevate above your waist line, taking ALL pressure off of them and can even position into "zero gravity". Basically, just decide what type of sitting/lounging experience you want to have on a daily basis when you get home and buy accordingly. Lastly, I got my Eames on sale for 20% off plus free shipping. This is a sale they run a few times per year. Sorry for the book long comment, I'm just trying to help people with making the right decision for themselves. Feel free to respond if you have any questions I didn't cover.

Like I mentioned in my above comment, they do run sales and free shipping along with zero interest (through affirm) several times a year and I’m sure will continue to do so far into the future. For now, concentrate on your education and future and hopefully you’ll be in a position to buy this chair soon enough. Good luck with college and don’t forget to enjoy the hell out of it (everything goes so fast once life and careers meet)

Nearly bought one, still might buy one one day but I ended up getting an Ekornes Stressless recliner, the Reno specifically but many of them are also great. It is simply the best recliner. The green leather Eames chair is gorgeous, the blue too but the green is the one I would go with. I would not go with the fabric options, sat in them and they don't feel nearly as good as the leather. The Stressless leather is butter soft semi aniline leather, the chair is multi-positional and can recline flat and the ottoman can be unlocked and pivot back and forth, truly a superior recliner.

They have videos on youtube and the chairs I bought (last year) match the quality shown. There are also videos on youtube which compare cheap replicas to high end ones.

Why don't you buy a used rather than a new knockoff? Knock offs use cheaper materials. I have an Eames Chair and Ottoman from the 60's and it's still in excellent condition, a little wear, but not enough to worry about. There's some nicks hear and there in the plywood, but it's the Rosewood, which is discontinued by highly desirable. I'm sure you can find used Eames Chairs from Knoll rather than some cheap knock off that might not last as long and have the same quality of leather.

A couple of years ago I bought two Eames chairs during some redecoration ... I wanted them in a high end dedicated stereo room for listening. I returned both of them ... let me explain. First, until I watched this video I didn't know there were two different sizes, and I'm not sure which size I had. Here's my thoughts and conclusions: I loved the look. I did not like the comfort or the entry/egress difficulty. The chair was only comfortable and usable if the person is semi-reclined. And that is not enough flexibility of function for me to consider it enjoyable or generally usable. Upright conversation or reading of a book requires an uncomfortable and unsupported position. To arise from a chair requires one to move their center of gravity forward over their contact with the floor prior to extending the knees and hips (think about it) ... this is done unconsciously otherwise one would simply fall backwards when extending the legs. The tilt on this chair and the low height of the seat makes this egress somewhat difficult and awkward. I've gone on too long here and I will end my comments by saying: it is a very attractive and attention getting chair, but it is overall uncomfortable and only usable for semi-reclining and even then, only when you have no need to get up and sit back down often. I have thought about chair design quite a bit, and have even considered making my own design, but that impulse disappeared quickly. I am still looking for chairs which meet my expectations. I have seen commander's chairs on the bridge of military ships which seem to have many elements I seek, but these are unavailable.

A majority of "coveted" designs are actually from the 50's, mid century modern is easily the most influential design period when it comes to furniture and home decor so it's weird that you would say otherwise. Also I find it funny the regular size aims for people up to 5'4", I really feel like they should think about pushing that up to atleast 5'8" right? My guess is mostly just people self reporting their preferences when it comes to this and being used to a big oversized lounge style of seating.

I sat it that chair many times, and I will say that it was not the most comfortable chair. The longer you sat, the less comfortable it got. My stepfather was a large man, and he very rarely sat in the chair. He had a large lazy boy which was his main chair. I am guessing that his was from the 1960s. Maybe newer ones are more comfortable. He specifically said Rolex Daytona. You CANNOT go into a store and buy one. Period. Not now, not if you’re on a wait list for 5 years. The watch is not available to you. Same for Rolex Pepsi and other highly sought after stainless steel sport watches. The “plummeting” in value are the used watches going from $35k to $30k. Yes, plummeting, however still double the price from retail. Also, while Rolex makes “millions” of watches, half of those are women’s, half of those are men’s. Half of the men’s are precious metal watches, and the breakdown continues until each authorized dealer gets only a handful of the watches people actually want. Like the watch referred to in this video.

@@eskamobob8662 I did test it that way and found my neck sore after just a bit. I showcased how the arms are too low to enjoy reading for long periods as well. Also, I’m not sure if what you’re saying is accurate since it’s a lounger (not a reading chair) and the inspiration came from their friend and director Billy Wilder who couldn’t nap on any of the existing lounge chairs of that time.

@Ahnestly saw that later in the review. Tbh your reading posture caught me off gard. I usualy read in my lap and have no issues, but to each their own

I love the design of this chair, but its not very comfortable as it only has one sitting position with that awkward back slope. It's worth every penny and some. The Herman Miller version is beautifully made, but a China copy is a fraction of the price and still quite good. The only error is the copy Ottoman has 5 legs instead of 4. Also, you have to see this design in the context of the 50's and compare it to all the awful designs being produced at the time.

the modern ones doesn't worth 10k so most people will probably get the used vintage ones or replicas.

Dude I’m seeing the chair on their site for 5k with the ottoman. That is not even near 10k. Anyways, just bought one.

Hey! My configuration is 10k. The cheapest config is 7kish, so with the current sale, it’s 5kish! Hope you were able to use my link, as it helps the channel a LOT! Regardless, congrats on your chair!

@@Ahnestly Yeah like $7500 is about the norm for these when you go into a showroom. You can't even really get them for $5000 used.
