I’m a Hawaii transplant now living in Las Vegas and as I watch all the Hawaii real estate videos on You Tube, I can’t help but shake my head…the house/condo prices are insane for what they offer….The HOA/Maintenance Fees alone are enough to scare away prospective buyers…Good luck to you and all fellow realtors in trying to make a living selling real estate…😊

The crazy part is houses/condos sell super fast no matter the condition. I worry that true Hawaiian culture will be lost to plain old USA commercialism as the locals get priced out more and more. I say this as someone who has visited Oahu and Kauai and could see things from an objective stance.

@@IKhanNot These recent buyers of Hawaii real estate better hope and pray that the years 2008-2010 don’t repeat itself, especially in Hawaii…the value of many homes, condos and townhomes went “underwater”….If it happens, there’s gonna a whole bunch of angry disappointed people…..People who bought residential real estate during 2008-2010 time frame know exactly what I’m talking about…..

I just finished watching videos of new homes in other states. Is the price of paradise really worth it to you? What is your situation, what do you want and/or what do you need? We all need to choose wisely. After 60 years of living in Hawaii and watching what has happened here (mostly in a negative way), I will be living out the rest of my life somewhere else where my money will actually go further.

It's worth it to me. I left Hawaii 10 years ago, have lived in Texas, Nevada and California. All of them had their own problems and were more expensive in other ways. Texas loves to talk about affordability and low taxes. Yet it has the highest property taxes in the US, I paid like 6 times more per year then I did in Hawaii. Insurance was 4 times more, heslthcare was more expensive, and the crime and poverty was much worse than Hawaii in every state I lived. Sure I had a bigger house, but at this point I don't care. Mainland culture has become way too toxic. I'm fine with living in a smaller place back home in paradise. Not to menrion the pay is much worse in most of those states, be careful what you wish for, your money won't go as far as you think it will. Unless you are living in the middle of nowhere in a poor state.

Most Hawaiians are not being "forced" to move. They just want bigger homes and want their money to go further. Hawaii has always been expensive, this isn't anything new. I did the same thing 10 years ago. And learned my lesson, the mainland has bigger homes sure, but it's more expensive in alot of other areas like property taxes, insurance, utilities, Healthcare etc.... couple that with worse crime, a more toxic culture politically and socially, and i can't wait to move back home to Hawaii. I am willing to give up the bigger home and cheaper gas to live in paradise. To me it's worth it. And I am sure some locals will learn the same lessons, and others will be fine with their choice of moving to the mainland...

Some of the clips in this video, from the perspective of driving by completed homes (not under construction, not the model homes), including clips at 7:34, 7:52, and 25:03, show homes with brown paper in parts of their windows rather than regular window screens. Why is this so prominent amongst a good number of the homes specifically for the Koa Ridge development? This isn't the case for Hoopili video clips, to my knowledge, so I can't imagine it's universally used in newly developed homes. Would there be a risk of the paper retaining moisture for longer periods of time and preventing quicker evaporation and drainage of water (compared to window screens), and would that impact the window sills (on these expensive homes) with water damage as time passes? Why not put regular screens in windows?
