The official server list has stopped reviewing servers for some reason, if you sort by most recently claimed it's stuck at January 2024. I submitted a server in Nov 2023 and it's still in the process of "being reviewed by Mojang". To me, the wait seems a bit excessive considering many servers that would benefit from it don't even last that long. Also, they offer paid "event slots" in their front page

You can dislike AI that's fine, but I personally find tools like these very useful and fun to play with. I don't talk about it on this channel (because it's never really relevant to the video topics), but I generally do like and find AI interesting, and while I know there are issues with it, I see it as a very powerful tool. In this case specifically, there is no artist or 3D modeler that can create builds for my videos in a practical time frame (not to mention it's not monetarily viable either), so it's not replacing anybody's job, because there wasn't anybody that could do this specifically in the first place. People like me who use this for videos, as well as other players who just use it for fun, weren't paying people to make builds or models for them in the first place, so nobody is being replaced. Whenever I need builds for other things (for example things on my server), I always have and still will pay builders (I've probably spent comfortably over $1000 paying builders alone). Tools like this are more for fun, personal use, of which paying for builders is simply not practical.

I personally openly own a semi-pay-to-win server and I advertise with KZbin and TikTok. The problem with starting a minecraft server now is that you are dealing with extremely large servers like FreshSMP that bring in upwards of 50,000 USD a month, and there is no way to compete with them in terms of advertising, so your only hope to get seen is to make it pay-to-win and spend the money you make on content creators so you get visibility.

As a Bedrock main, I have to disagree on this. Have you SEEN the Bedrock featured servers? Sure, some are good, but many are complete garbage. Additionally, it kinda creates a monopoly for those servers for no reason other than they are featured. There are plenty of great Bedrock servers that aren't featured that get fewer/similar players than/as some of the worst featured servers. Also, asking Mojang to head the entire server list is basically asking them to make a Minecraft marketplace for servers, basically the same problem (and we all know how good the Bedrock Minecraft marketplace is lol). If they don't require servers to pay for slots, then what incentive do they have to make it in the first place, or make it good?

as a server owner since 2011 I have experienced everything you talked about in this video, it used to be far easier to grow a server and it's something I did multiple times in beta/early versions of Minecraft, now it's almost impossible to get much traction to a new server or any organic growth without thousands to invest into advertising, even sponsored slots on many of the old server lists would often be available for reasonable prices, but now it would be very difficult to get any kind of sponsored spot without being completely pay to win it would be amazing if some of the changes you talked about were made with a server list in the minecraft launcher, or server lists that don't show servers solely based on votes or sponsored servers

What needs to happen first is for Mojang to actually let people post their servers to it. Before a server can be shown on the server list it's required to be reviewed by Mojang, which they have seemingly stopped doing. I and hundreds of other server owners have been sitting in the review queue for a year now with no word for Mojang. It seems they have abandoned it. People aren't going to use the website if they don't allow servers to be added to it.

Hey mister epic I saw your reply on the AI sponsor saying you're not replacing a person because you need the model quickly and how you pay for work on your server and thats great I would certainly hope you pay people that build for the server or work on it in any capacity. Idk if its been expressed here in the comments but my issue with AI especially in any kind of art format is who did they steal from to train it? Did they pay an artist to make all those models that the sponsor had available? Or did they just scrape the internet stealing from other artists to then generate what they are making money on now? I'm not completely against AI as a whole but when it comes to art and music they've made it very clear that the learning models just steal and regurgitate work from real people and thats where I have a real big problem with AI. I'm not going to unsubscribe or be rude none of that. Just letting you know as a viewer of yours this type of AI is quite scummy and it is in all honesty a bit disappointing to see it being advertised here. I understand why you're using it and again while on the front end no your not replacing someone on the back end it kind of is. I do appreciate your channel and videos I've learned a lot of really interesting things about minecraft and the community so overall thank you and if you read all this I appreciate you took the time to do so ❤

@Greenhawk4 if im trying to learn to draw and im tracing pictures out of say a Disney book sure that's fine but I wouldn't then turn around and try to sell Disney pics as mine. The problem with training AI on other artists without permission is theres no expression no interpretation just copying someone else's work for profit. There's no saying how much of artist A's work is in an AI regurgitation etc. And there's no human imagination where you can understand the interpretation and the learning and the resulting new artwork. If artists had the opportunity to give permission to the learning models we wouldn't have to have these discussions but they didn't and the people that made them basically stole other people's work for their own profit

@@nmgg6928 It doesn't sell others' stuff as its own. It gathers knowledge and inspiration and creates something new based on that (like artists themselves). Artists like Davinci or Michelangelo didn't get the opportunity to give permission for their artwork to be used by future learning artists.

(Art that was taken and used for the AI by the company without their permission) Same with photos, videos, essays, books, documents, and a million other types of datasets I can't remember rn And, they are definitely taking work up from humans. Artists, code writers, photographers, ANIMATORS and riggers. There weren't enough jobs before AI, now their getting eaten up and leaving hundreds of thousands more in desperate, desolate situations under the economy. Think and research before you type. Ik your also probably a troll, but hopefully an ai bro who isn't (rare) will see this and get some reason knocked into their head. Also, AI takes away socialization opportunities with real people, leaving less ways to socialize with real people in an already lonely, isolated society

This comes at the cost of artists, writers, editors, even actors and many more people losing jobs to ai, just spend 10 minutes go on google and search "ai stealing jobs" you will find many articles on the subject. It's a genuine fear and problem, also if you want more reason ai is bad search anything on google go to images and count how many are ai and how many arent.

just like many others here probably, this is how i found out minecraft had an official server list. i do pretty much exclusively play on hypixel so i probably wont use it, but as someone that played this game for over 10 years it is sad to see the current state of smaller servers as shown in this video, p2w or irrelevant. your suggestion to have it in the launcher is a really good idea and id love to see mojang actually implement it.

What about reversing the cash flow?: pay server owners for getting to the top each month, sorted by continuous player count (or maybe votes). Charge $1/mo. for players to view the list (to generate the revenue without ads). This idea needs more ironing out, like adding written rules so that p2w servers are legally disqualified (to create an insensitive to cease p2w features)

Honestly with the AI builds shown, I have some things to point out - the village has a lot of very varied blocks, and it looks messy as a result - fine as a faraway background element, where things don't need detail, but not quite as well for a spawn. The dragon though, while still having that issue of visual mess, looks way better and is actually pretty cool-looking. And, like I say - AI is supposed to assist, not replace people.
