This just shows that Qui-Gon was the only Jedi master that could train Anakin to his full potential. He never gave up on him and showed great empathy to him, a far cry from the other Jedi when they interacted with Anakin.

It's kind of ironic because Qui-Gon was almost the complete opposite to Obi-Wan. With Anakin, he was patient, empathetic and listened as you stated, but with Obi, he was almost cold and distant. Obi-Wan's very first lines in the prequals were "I have a bad feeling about this" (which Qui-Gon disputed) followed by "It's not about the mission, Master, it's something elsewhere, elusive". Again, Qui-Gon rebukes Obi-Wan telling him not to focus on his anxieties. But when you think about it, Obi-Wan was RIGHT. He was sensing a much bigger and darker picture to this whole trade dispute. It gets worse because after shooting down Obi's observations, Qui-Gon then turns around and pretends he's the one who notices them. Later in that same scene Qui-Gon says "I sense an unusual amount of fear for something as trivial as this trade dispute", hinting to the exact thing he just scolded Obi for. And later too when they landed on Tattooine and Qui-Gon is leaving the ship "Be weary, I sense a disturbance in the force". Obi agrees with him but has a sour expression like "I freaking tried to tell you!" Qui-Gon repeatedly denies and shuts down Obi-Wan and only once or twice do we ever see him be complimentary to his padawan.

Anakin probably would've seeked help from Qui-Gon when Padmé was pregnant, and Qui-Gon would definitely help. But it was not to be, the force works in mysterious ways. Qui-Gon did his duty to the living force, played his part.

Qui-Gon actually knows more than he's letting on. Even as a Force Ghost, he doesn't let his ideals overrule the natural flow of The Force. As Qui-Gon sees Anakin enter the Dark Side, you notice he never says "this is wrong" or "this must be stopped" Think about that.

Isn't it funny that, despite the Sith claiming to know the secrets of immortality, the technique of becoming a force ghost, a way of preserving one's spirit through the force...is a Jedi technique?

Because becoming a Force ghost is a light side technique. The Force is balanced in the light side, and it requires balance within the individual and strength in the Force for them to be able to retain their identity in the Force after death. That’s why only certain individuals ever become Force ghosts, like Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, and Yoda. You see certain other beings with a sufficiently strong relationship with the Force, like Revan, become one with the Force when they die, but canonically only the three I mentioned have become Force ghosts. Sith can become phantoms, tied to a specific object or place and can temporarily manifest themselves if there is enough Force energy around that object or place for them to pull from.

I feel like Qui-Gon would not have tried to pull Anakin from the dark side, only try to stop him hurting too many people. I believe that he would have understood what the prophecy truly meant - where most only saw that the chosen one would destroy the sith, he knew that both the Jedi and sith had to be destroyed to bring balance.

the dark side is the disbalance in the force as stated by George Lucas himself. lightsiders maintain the balance in the Force by acting as instruments of its will, whereas darksiders throw it out of balance by making *it* an instrument of *their* will. however Darth Vader's facilitating or directly being responsible for the purging of the Jedi of his time may in fact also be seen as being part of his bringing balance to the Force as they had all fallen under the influence of the dark side in two ways. Firstly by being more concerned with protecting the interests of the Galactic Republic, and as such being attached to it despite their own injunctions to shun all attachment, rather than meditating and acting upon the will of the Force. And secondly by shunning more or less all study of the dark side due to *their fear* of its seductive nature, despite their preaching that it is fear precisely that is what leads to the dark side.

The "vergence in the force" quote is when Qui-Gon was talking to the council & the "Dreams pass in time" quote was Obi-Wan talking to Anakin in Padmes apartment when Zam had the poison worms go through the window. That was Vader hearing the past.

Only Anakin had his memory wiped of Mortis, and even then it was just back to the point right before the son showed him the future. I think that afterwards they say something to Rex like “you wouldn’t believe us if we told you”. Also, Yoda references Anakin’s encounter with Qui-Gon directly in his arc at the end of season 6. Anakin tells Yoda that he believes it was an illusion.

It occurred to me recently that Qui Gon could have survived. Darth Maul was cut in half, and Anakin was saved through medical science, but it seems to me that Qui Gon was the kind of Jedi who revered the living force so much that he would not have wanted any intervention to prevent his death.

People live a long time if they are gut shot. He was gut stabbed. Takes a long to die in reality from such a wound. But he may have been paralyzed. But medical science of that day would have been able to give him the ability to walk. But like I said the living force and qui gon respected was tied to more nature than science I guess.

Yeah, the wound should be at least partially cauterized. For movie purposes though, Maul is probably capable of finding a precise spot to strike to ensure a slow death. Probably blew through some major arteries, ex. the mesenteric.

Qui-Gon Jinn is definitely one of my favourite Star Wars characters ever! He was killed off way too soon but made sense in terms of the overall story. The phantom menace is probably my favourite out of all 6 movies George Lucas himself originally created.

It's pretty universally panned by 99% of Star Wars fans as easily being the worst out of the six films Lucas made, though that wasn't due to Qui-Gon or Obi-wan being bad. Honest question. Would it be ok to think Anakin did bring balance to the force? There were an entire (for lack of a better term) race of Sith, until bane created the rule of 2. In Empire strikes back, Vader talks with Luke about destroying the emperor and ruling the galaxy as father and son. Some could see it as a ploy to tempt Luke into the dark side. But in Return of the Jedi, the last time we hear Vader say to Luke "You don't know the power of the dark side" sounded to me like he was warning Luke about the Sith and the power Sidious had over him.

The thing about Vader hearing Qui-Gon in the Temple is he must have realized that truly was Qui-Gon because he NEVER heard him say those words, the first part yes but the "He will bring balance",never. Anakin was never there to hear Qui-Gon tell Obi-Wan "He is the chosen one. He will bring balance." This is a flaw and is probably to be Retconned at some point in time.

Its telling that Qui-Gon reached out to Anakin following Vader's first encounter with Luke. Vader already sensed something was different about the boy even before he learned Luke's identity. Its possible Qui-Gon Jinn knew that that was the moment to breathe upon whatever embers of Anakin remained alive within Darth Vader. Perhaps he sensed that awakening what eventually turned into obsession was the only way for Anakin to finally triumph over the monster he had become.

Qui-gon tells the councile after returning from Tatooine with Anakin "I have encountered a vergence in the force" to which Mace Windo inquires "around a person?" and so the the words he is hearing is what was told to the council in The Phantom Menace (approx 1:25 on Disney +)

When he says the line about a vergence in the force it’s from phantom menace when he’s talking to the council trying to get them to train Anakin so it can all just be moments from the past. It’s the first time they show Yoda and Mace I think so it should be easy to check it out, it’s how he initiates the discussion about Anakin after talking about the mission they were on. I only bring it up because it seems like that was the deciding factor in your opinion that Qui Gon was present and speaking to Vader.

It´s weird that the Jedi have all of these rules about who they will train, but what are the rules about ejecting someone from training. How was Anakin given a pass after killing an entire tribe of Tuscans? That seems like a clear violation of everything a Jedi stands for and you can´t clean up that error. They didn´t want to accept him precisely for that reason and when he fulfilled what they predicted....using the skills they taught him, they just let it go.

If I may, I think that Qui Gon Jinn was able to talk to only the Jedi portion that might have been left in Anakin. Qui Gon was a bit of an enigma. He was a bit of a "radical" in the Jedi Order. He like Master Fey (whom he actually harbored feelings of love for) was an adherent of "let the force guide my will" which was not regarded as very popular among force users prior to 30 or so BBY. Most force users were of the mind that the force was either something to meditate and learn upon (Jedi) or controlled and forced (Sith). And Qui Gon, whose master was one of the "lost 20" being Count Dooku who was himself once a great and honorable Jedi who was padawan to an even greater Jedi Grandmaster being Yoda himself. Qui Gon remarked saying he respected Dooku and even believed in some of his tenants, but he was a harsh master and may have pushed Qui Gon to even question whether he was really following the will of the force? Vader knew that Qui Gon had struggles and was often questioning the Jedi Council (much to the council's admonishment) hence he was still only a Knight, when he should have been a Master. Just like Anakin felt upon his ascension to the Jedi Council, when Mace Windu conveyed Anakin's seat to the council, but not the title of Master ,as he had not yet earned that title. It did not help the guilt he felt over Ashoka Tano leaving the Order as she was his padawan. Since she did not become a Knight, he could not be declared a master. This added to his growing anger and as as for Qui Gon, it only added to HIS frustration with the council. So in a way, Qui Gon faced the same struggles as Anakin/Vader and was held down for his beliefs, just as Vader felt by the council and his pain for his friends and Ashoka.

Edit: So as far as Qui Gon speaking to Anakin ,he tried to reach the "good" left in Anakin. Which might have triggered a lingering doubt that was often punished by Emperor Palatine as "weakness". But Qui Gon was not strong enough, it took an even stronger Jedi in the form of Vader's son Luke, to reach thet portion Qui Gon could not reach. Even Obi Wan at the end realized this.

Then that’s not balance. No, it doesn’t matter what George Lucas has said. George Lucas also said that Boba Fett died in the sarlacc pit, there was never a Jedi - Sith war and lightsabers are too heavy to do complex fights with.

I thought it was common knowledge that Qui Gon reached out to Anakin whilst he was killing the younglings? In Attack Of The Clones when it cuts away from Anakin killing the Tusken Raiders to Yoda meditating, you hear a voice that says 'Anakin!' 'Anakin!' and the voice is Qui Gon Jinn

I thought they’d explained that Qui Gon hadn’t completed the force ghost stuff so could only create a visual form through strenuous effort, meaning he’d be closed off for a while after manifesting a ghost

For anyone that questioned how Qui-Gon could have a fully formed Force Ghost, outside of Mortis. Why would he not be able to? He has enough knowledge to speak through the Force, keeping his consciousness. He can still keep learning. If anything you could spend eternity learning more of the Force. The physical realm no longer limits you.

Master Qui Gon Jin does represent the calm saviour archetype; a man following the path of transcendence and seeing that the order meant to teach such had become stagnated and dogmatized, someone who is there for the ones who were unjustly treated and was there for them, acting proactively and defensively for them rather than becoming an aggressor. The path of transcendence offers the possibility to remain deeply influential after passing away of which the saviour archetype fulfills, wherein Qui Gon Jin was the first force user ever to discover this. Not following the rules strictly is part of this saviour archetype and is willing to do something different when the will beyond themselves/Force asks for it. They also made the path of transcendence easier by having walked it first for all others prior. All of this perfectly encapsulates Qui Gon Jin.

I agree that what Vader was hearing were more like echoes of the past rather than intelligent comments. To build on what was already stated in the video, "I have encountered a vergence in the Force," is what Qui-Gon said to the counsel when first reporting about Anakin. "He is the Chosen One. He will bring balance," is what he said to Obi-Wan before dying. "Dreams pass in time," is something Obi-Wan said to Anakin when the latter said he doesn't sleep well anymore because of his dreams of his mother.

But Qui-Gon does use the vergance in the force line when he first speaks to the council about anakin, and Obi tells anakin that dreams will pass when he's telling anakin not to dwell on his nightmares about Shmu I think these were just memories, in both cases

Qui Gon never gave up on Anakin. Despite his horrific crimes, he still saw the goodness in heart heart, deep beneath Vader's armor. Qui Gon never stopped being his father.

The memory wasn't fully erased after mortis, but it felt rather like a dream for them and no one could actually tell if it happened or not, eventually Anakin told the council about it and again Yoda after he heard Qui Gons voice as well. So sidious is actually pretty smart to just sit on his force nexus planet in the unknown region, simply controlling clones or other pawns like snoke using the force. Not only is he more powerful while there, but he’s able to control the pawns better. Makes you wonder what would happen if they were able to build robotic bodies that could manipulate the force.

Out of everything in this vid the part that stood out the most to me was the image of obi wan, Yoda, and qui Gon looking over Anakin and Luke. Yes I said Anakin because he turned back into Anakin at that point he wasn't Vader. I still wonder now what all of them thought about the situation

I didnt know everyones memories of Mortis were wiped. After seeing the episode for the first time i just assumed they all agreed it would be pointless to tel rex and the others what happened, but told the council who ultimately decided there was nothing they could do

ACTAULYL, intresting lore fact i learned: the area of tattoine where obi wan lived, near the western dune sea....IS a force nexxus! So it makes sense qui gon could appear as a ghost in that area. (now as this was established BEFORE disney, i am not sure if this is a FACTOR, but..i doubt its a coindence.)

If Qui-Gon Jin had survived, Anakin would have never turned to the dark side. QGJ would have saved his mom, thus preventing his fall.

Anaking definitely did bring balance to the force: though not directly he was heavily involved. Sure there were probably outliers both with light and dark side users who either renounced, just dabbled, or were grey. But by the end of Episode 6 we think that Luke is the only one left, but retroactively find out in the sequels that Palpatine survived via clones, so it was 1 on each side. Untill Luke had to go and disturb the balance. (Though Palpatine was definitely bound to strike back, it was probably accelerated a few years with a good pawn to play the role of "sith")

5:28 Is that true? After the Mortis Arch; Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka, all had their memories wiped after that event. I remember Anakin having his memory wiped from the Father, when the Son gifted him visions of his future but I didn’t realize that all three had their memories wiped from that event. Where was that was confirmed?

One movie that should lead into a show should center around Darth Vader. So many side stories that can be done and introduce other characters into live action. Maybe introduce star killer from the force unleashed. Have to tweak his character and where he fits into the new canon but can be done. Still keep the Jedi clone sub plot but make it so he's hunting Snoke but only to find other clones of Snoke, Palpatine, and Yoda. One area that hasn't been touched on as far as I know is Luke's new jedi council. Maybe introduce him as a jedi that helped form the new council only to split because of the incident with Luke and Kylo.
