Here is why God hates lying. A person who lies hates the individual they are lying to (Proverbs 26:28). And if you hate another human being, God views the hater as a murderer (1 John 3:15; 1 John 4:20).

So if a child that lies to their parents, does that mean they hate their parents? Could it not be they lied because they didn't want to hurt their parents feelings or didn't want to get in trouble. How about another scenario; someone's had a fatal injury and a person tells them they are going to be just fine in order to comfort them. Does that mean the person lying hates the injured party? Or how about if a person is put in a difficult situation where lying could prevent harm, would it not be acceptable for them to lie then? These simple examples demonstrate two things. Firstly, that lying isn't unacceptable in ALL circumstances and secondly, lying does not necessarily imply they hate the person they are lying too.
