The Oscars had to use a song from a Broadway musical and a set seemingly borrowed from Hollywood Squares to open their telecast. It might have worked had the people in the cubicles been released from captivity to somehow interact with the "Oscars". Instead, we seemed to have two unrelated scenes presented consecutively for no particular reason. I was about as impressed as Michael Douglas.
