The Orb - OOBE (Peel Session)

An old girlfriend recorded this for me one night after I left her house to drive home. I think it was their first airing on John Peel sessions. We absolutely loved it. Later her mum bought me the album ( on cassette of course ) which I played non stop. This track was played at bed time and I’ve fallen fast asleep to it hundreds of times. My relationship with her is long since over but this track brings back very special memories of a youth which is now a distant memory as I head into my middle years.

This track is over 30 years old now, I still to this day put it on if I’m struggling to sleep, it relaxes me like no other track ever has. After hearing this I got into Tangerine Dream amongst others, I’d been into the original Chicago House music, which developed into Acid House etc then The Orb came along and my music tastes took another turn.

Love all the versions of OOBE. This one is a close second to the pool mix.. Just look at that artwork.. so intriguing at the time.. Terravum/Live 93/Pomme Fritz .. got so lost in those albums and never found my way out

@@johnnycjnr the limitations of the fidelity of vinyl lend to the warm quality Scott is speaking of. With electronic music, it applies a lot more because of the huge amount of frequencies. it's also about enjoying the artwork and having more a product you can hold but i've exceeded my niceness.

In each consciousness being, non out of body experience, is pure, the fruit of innocence ! & Cannot be Penetrated forced, a castrated & thrust into shadow . No, it takes a shattered soul. Without this burden of positive in favor of negative; the mind is released from all ties; ascendancy or descendancy; makes no difference; a mind not seeking is a mind inside of bliss. A mind seeking exasperates its energy resource in favor of putting its sun in other things. In shadows. It chases shadows. Complexity overlayed; books tie peoples belly & therefore mind in a knot. To undo this knot is to undo the burden. It is a matter of HOW you read it; not what is written. See, so many of us are relative to the word, relative to the number; relative to the script of feeling. Up & Down , Left & Right, a full 360 Axis; has us moving all over the place; mentally speaking. The sun gets put in to things other than the sun. The eyes got outside the eyes. The need for ascendancy makes the mental body go outside of the physical body. My experience with this is that going out only yearns me to pull back in. The more deeper rooted I am; the better off. With the centre not outside but inside; it is underrated how forceful this becomes. IT is seen as Hog Wash. Really, this satisfies and is the content of content . With Great Appetite; I write much; but still; refer to my initial premise; that without the need for ascendancy; we are without burden.

The problem imo is we, because no one can escape, r going to soon or later let go of the body, willing or by force because death Curious things sleep seems to me a similar state, but most of us let go of ourselves in this unconscious unaware way that block our perception of what's going on... My point is that we all r going to experience an ultimate out of body. Why not be wise and know what's it about before the light at the end of the tunnel becomes a crazy freight train and there u don't know where u r manipulated by the present situation...

the flutes have always been a part of OOBE + vocal snippets are signature Orb. Classic! A+ Will never forget hearing them open w/ this in Atlanta '95 for Orbus Terrum 'Happy Happy Joy Joy' Tour. Amazing performance.
