I love those orchid tree. I've seen them around here in Florida. They're gorgeous.

A great genus. My five B. blakeana have been flowering nonstop for almost two years. They previously used to take a break in late summer. They are winter bloomers in coastal southern California. Blakeana will tolerate drought for a few weeks but they seem to do best with regular irrigation, like when planted in a lawn area. A dry period in autumn will help promote a good winter bloom, which last for months. I know a good curry cook. I’ll have to harvest some buds and see if they want to give Bauhinia curry a try.

In India (Hindi) we call it KACHNAR and I cook it regularly, some of its specific cultivars have a lot of medicinal uses here in Aryuvedic and Homoeopathic medicine..

Hi, how does the root system work? Is it safe to plant it say around 10ft away from the house? Will the roots destroy the structures of the house?

What is the name of the nursery you are at?
@ScaryHairyGary7 ай бұрын
It’s a little bit like a horse with no name since my buddy didn’t really name it. Let me know if there’s something you need and I can see if I can waive my magic wand and make it appear. Thanks.

How long do they usually bloom for?

Crazy how the leaves fold up at night and reopen at sunrise!

It’s beautiful especially because the leaves are so large. I have 2 in my front yard and they open/close depending on the amount of sunlight available

How can i purchase some seeds from you for this tree?
@redo73 Жыл бұрын
These are a absolute pest tree in my garden (Brisbane, Australia). Hard to remove them as they set seeds so easily. They are considered a weed by our council because theyre sooo invasive.

Mine was planted in S Hillsborough earlier this year. Branches are snapping off. Still has buds and young leaves. I think I'll cut it back to nothing and see what happens. Don't like this tree.
