Watchmen is an American graphic novel limited series published by DC Comics in 1986 and 1987, and collected in 1987. The series was created by a British collaboration consisting of writer Alan Moore, artist Dave Gibbons, and colorist John Higgins. Watchmen originated from a story proposal Moore submitted to DC featuring superhero characters that the company had acquired from Charlton Comics. As Moore's proposed story would have left many of the characters unusable for future stories, managing editor Dick Giordano convinced Moore to create original characters instead.

and that is the reason why watchmen is considered a masterpiece , is a story that even today you can still read it and find something you didnt noticed the first time you read it , to a point that many people have misinterpreted the message moore intended with this story ( the movie itself changed the entire point and message of the novel, the supposed heroes in it are not supposed to be celebrated, they are a tragedy in itself, an autocritique, you shouldnt be rooting for them, you should feel horrified by their actions, this are people who you SHOULDNT want or trust as your protectors, but yet you hear some fans claim is accurate) , its not just a critique to the superheroe genre, and you can tell the consequences of that misinterpretation affecting the comic book industry to this day: lets make all dark and gritty just because it looks cool, just for the sake of it.

Or you know, it could be used as a specific style or, a writer decides that they wish to make it like that because to them it's more interesting. There's a number of reasons why comics have become gritty and dark.

Never read a single comic in my life except watchmen. I remember that a friend of mine gave it to me and he was one of the people whose opinion I really trusted when it came to books and media. At the time, I was really into classic literature, books like gravity's rainbow and in search of lost time etc. In my opinion, watchmen stacks up right next to those books as a landmark in the media. As an aside, while I don't read comics I do really enjoy your videos.

MagicMichael827 me too, his channel is the only reason I read comics or know anything about Marvel and it’s hero’s. Before I was just going off DC tv shows and cartoon shows. I knew nothing about marvel. But I’m just saying I would definitely just chill and listen to him talk about real world stuff too. His knowledge base goes far beyond comics. I’m just saying if he wanted to do another channel where he talked about other things I would definitely subscribe to that too.

This... this explanation of humanity and what it means to be. I love these topics and Dr. Manhattan's view point on this really makes you look at yourself and the others around you and makes you wonder what you have done, are doing, and can do to make life move forward and mean more that to just exist in time. I know I'm focusing more on the tangent and not the comic but it's just topics like these that astound me, put me on the edge of my seat, and get me passionate about humanity and what it all means. A lot of times people don't talk about it because they either don't want to, are afraid of the ending result when it's brought up, or they seemingly just don't care, and even THAT aspect of conversation is amazing to me, it gives me a sort of high if you will. For me there are almost no words to describe it all, but one-day I hope I can meet with you Ron and just get your full view on it all.

I am human because I was born on earth and my physiology is 99% identical to the rest of my species. That's how I look at humans, earth born organisms with the same functioning innards and outards

But that's like saying what makes a dog a dog. His physiology id assume. If a dog spoke English and had the intelligence of a human, we'd still call them a dog. It's just a matter of labeling different species based on commonalities between species. Black white Hispanic Asian Indian etc may have different variations of they're species but they still human, one could say Manhattan is a genetically altered variation but none the less still human, it's his thought process that isn't as human anymore. Remember, regualr people like you and me can also be devoid of morality and emotion, some would say that makes us a soulless person but none the less....still human. As the son of a watchmaker, the "real" John Osterman would never make the statement that, "The universe is like a clock without a clockmaker." He would know from experience the tremendous amount of mental focus and step-by-step progression of parts needed for the more simple 'watch' as compared to the untold variables which would go into making the universe itself. Even the cheapest/simplest watch has to be INTELLIGENTLY DESIGNED by someone or some entity.
