Actually, despite the negative comments here, I think he captures the raw, unperfect, dingy bar aspect of Hedwig perfectly. Love this. I can imagine it will just get better and better as his show runs. :)

I was soooo heartbroken when I couldn't get tix for Hedwig during NPH's run. Usually when the original B-way cast (whether new or revival production) is no longer intact, I don't bother spending the money to watch live. I was skeptical that the original Elder Price could fill NPH's shoes as Hedwig, at least based on what I saw on the Tony's. AND I looooove Andrew Rannells! But because the story is so fantastic, I loved the movie and was curious enough to see how Andrew Rannells would do, I took the splurge and went. AR killed it!! And for better or worse, the look matters - and AR made a pretty girl. Not to mention his body was looking rather hot. He was the entire package, gave an amazing performance singing, dancing and acting. MUST SEE before his run ends in a few weeks!!

WOW! That gave me chills. He just OWNED that song! I just love Andrew Rannells - he is so talented, and his voice is amazing! He has such stage presence too. And it sure doesn't hurt that he's handsome, beautiful, AND cute. (Before everyone freaks - no, I'm not some weird guy trolling, i"m a woman in my 40's, and that was an honest observation and a compliment to Mr. Rannells - he is quite dashing, you must admit - not some freaky stalker comment. yikes. from airy to flat to throaty to nasal. I write this in the hopes he sees a good new vocal coach before he takes another role. preferably someone with a background in choir or vocal jazz, and not the glee club. I once had a bad vocal coach and somehow still got leads in musicals. no shame about it. I just pleased more ears when I learned from an actually good vocal coach.
