You know a song is genius when to this very day countless people still cover the song and whomever hears the song instantly likes it. Freddie Mercury and his work in Queen is his legacy and he's immortalized through it. There's not too many people that can do that.

Queen is just as talented off stage. Lead singer Freddie Mercury was a graphic artist and designed their logo. Guitarist Brian May built his own guitar as a teen, then earned a doctorate in astrophysics while Queen was on hiatus. Bassist John Deacon is an electrical engineer who designed a custom amplifier for May's custom guitar. Drummer Roger Taylor has a degree in biology.

Welcome to the world of Queen 👋🏻😄 This song is a timeless classic and a masterpiece. The lead singer is Freddie Mercury. He was and still is a legend. He passed away from AIDS in 91 and he's so missed 💔❤ There never was and there never will be anyone like him again. He's considered by many, me included, to be the greatest vocalist of all time. The rest of the band is Brian May on guitar, Roger Taylor on drums and John Deacon on bass. If you want to.continue reacting to them, please react to Somebody To Love LIVE from Montreal 👌🏼

I think of this as just not the "original" version, but the performance by the composer, arranger, director, etc. Freddie Mercury oversaw every aspect of the production. One small example: Brian May, the guitarist though the guitar should fade out earlier at the end, but Freddie insisted it lasted a few seconds longer. Fun fact: while the group's hair styles changed over the years, Brian's 'fro is still essentially the same...but a lot grayer, since he's now 73. :)

FYI - Freddie's white satin stage outfit was created by fashion designer Zandra Rhodes. In the early years of Queen, they were into what was called "Glam Rock" and they never copied anyone in the way they dressed. Freddie was responsible for their costume, the iconic Queen logo, and the album cover designs. He had a degree from Ealing College in Art and Graphic Design but never had a desire to chase a career in Graphic Design. BTW - He took some fashion classes at Ealing and even created a beautiful winter coat for his mother which she shared with the world on a TV interview after Freddie's passing.

Amazing fact about Queens' lead guitarist Brian May. He was actually working on getting his Ph.D in astrophysics when Queen was formed. Music meant so much to him so he put his doctorate on the back burner. After Freddie Mercury died, Queen disbanded. Even while still part of the group Brian and his father designed and built a new kind of guitar. Brian's IQ has been measured in the 160's. That's even beyond Big Bang Theory smart. So he was a real genius on top of being a musical genius. after Queen disbanded, Brian went back to working toward his doctorate. He finally got it in 2006 or 7. He's now Dr. Brian May Ph.D. He's also written about 6 books on the subject of astrophysics.

By the way my next birthday I will be 70 . It was about 10 or 15 yrs ago I actually realised that UK pop music were unattainable to to the rest of the world. Listen to it and dream on

I think your voice over is a genius technique. Experience the "content" however you want - then in post add the voice over. At that point, you heard the whole song and had a minute to think about it. Nobody knows or cares if that part took more than one take. And you totally avoid missing something because you were talking. Sorta like two reactions at once. Neat trick. :)

Are you aware that two original members of Queen are still playing their songs and touring?? As Queen + Adam Lambert they’ve pleaded to almost 4 MILLION fans during their world tours. They’ve just released a new album called Live Around The World. It’s gone # 1 in the UK and Australia and I expect it will hit # 1,worldwide soon. Dr. Brian May is their lead guitar , arguably the best in the world. Roger Taylor is the genius on drums and backup singer. Spike Edney played with them back in the day , filling in for Freddie on piano he still does. Adam Lambert is a multi octave singer with the voice of an Angel and the sass of a devil. You must watch the performance of Who Wants To Live Forever at the Isle of Wight festival. It’s EPIC!!!

Hey Shiloh. Great reaction as usual. Here is my take on covers. If someone has the advantage of copying something that was already created, they should do a great job on it. They have the advantage of taking it apart and nit picking segments of it. If someone wanted to fund it they could gather up a bunch of great artists and the best equipment, lasers and machines etc and recreate a great version of the Sistine Chapel ceiling. It would not however match the greatness of what Michelangelo created laying on his back on a scaffold painting by hand. Same is true of music. Queen started with a blank page. Created and performed what you just shared with us. Pentatonix and Home Free? and Angelina Jordan are all very talented performers. The cover bands have been scouted and hand selected to perform certain parts. Bands like Queen and so many others were established and had to say okay who can do this or that part, and adapt to it. Those others are wonderfully talented, but there are so many "reactors" (not you) on YT who play covers and even give the cover artists credit for writing the songs. I appreciate covers as well, but would like to see more reactors do originals and covers of songs, and maybe do a little homework about the songs they use. You however are as good as it gets in the reactor field. Keep up the great work. Oh and as much as I hate stopping songs and comedy routines in the middle, you have to do it. People can always watch the original video in tact. They should be tuning in to your channel to watch your reaction. Stay happy. Keep smiling. Stay safe and well. ;) Here's an oldie for you., called "Play that funky music" kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXfMp2yDapxql5Y

This is just rediculous nonsense. If someone has the talent to recreate the Sistine chapel more power to them. I'm sure the new building would have something Michaelangelo couldn't have imagined and that is art. Covers can be apreciated for the art that they are. Pentatonix used only there voices and there whits to recreate a masterpiece in there own way and it was magical. It doesn't have to be one or the other.

@@Jsman525 I agree. I said I enjoyed covers and the talent of those who do them. My point was that if people are going to react to a song it would be great if they listened to the original as well. If someone is reacting to 1st time hearing a particular singer or band and they are doing a cover that's fine too. Come on folks. Let's not be looking for things to get offended by.

while yes I agree she should see the original your remark seemed to seriously discredit covers. Not offended just disagree with you. Covers can surpass originals.

I love a capella groups like Home Free, Pentatonix, and Voiceplay, but there's some things they just can't match. When I heard PTX's version of this song, it just made me want to hear the original. Not that they did a bad job, they just weren't Freddie and Co.

Quick comment on the "pause" - if the "pause" is required, the way you do it to me is much more preferable than the way other reactors use a "pause". Comments added after reaction are more appropriately reflective. Great reaction - thank you

"Bohemian Rhapsody" has to be the one of the most misunderstood songs. First of all, the person he admitted killed was his old-self, when he admitted that he was either gay or bisexual. Even when they recorded this song, it wasn't something most people could say so publicly so he had to disguise in the lyrics he chose. In fact, a lot of people still didn't know or or didn't want to believe his sexual orientation until after he was diagnosed with aids. To this day, I still don't know if he was gay or bisexual and truthfully I don't care, I just know we lost a great entertainer the day he died.

Heavily promoted by Radio 1 DJ Kenny Everett (a comic genius at home in Britain), this single took off in late 1975 and occupied the No.1 spot for much of the winter. It also returned to the same position at the end of 1991, when the news of Freddie's death stunned the public. In some ways it makes more sense if you remember one of his major influences was opera (long derided as that area of musical theatre where 'when you stab a man, instead of dying, he sings'). It's all there in the drama.
