Nothing better than having vague memories of looking up Persona soundtracks on KZbin then looking at a soundtrack for a game that doesn't even exist, then watching your video and figuring out what it was all about. I can't say I was one of the people who believed in the ruse, but then again, that's probably because I became aware of the franchise closer to that original P5 teaser (2014ish).

The amount of views this video has makes me overjoyed to witness (hoping more people will become interested in it now). Hopefully the creator of this project sees this as well, I'm sure it would make them happy too. Thank you for mentioning my blog in the video and the special thanks, that was really kind of you.

I really miss moments like this in the earlier internet days where you can just blindly stumble across something and become lost in the what ifs regarding it. I remember being on forums talking about Persona 5 imagine when the uploads were new and the speculations regarding them was insane. A lot of the songs imo also did line up with what Persona 5 actually did become too. I love persona 5 (royal specifically) and had a blast when i finally got my hands on it in 2020 but damn did I not have random fever dream thoughts of the imagination project while I was playing it.

Damn I feel this hard. Different series, but I remember going through something similar with Street Fighter back in the day. When it seemed like SF4 was never going to happen, I used to theorize with my friends what the SF characters and storyline of the future would look like. I of course appreciate that I did get to see the return of an IP I love, especially since it continues to go strong now. But also you just can't help but hold on to those what ifs.

After a bit of back 'n' forth, this is lookin' like the real deal, everyone: ATLUSxP5 is back with all-new stuff planned for the Persona 5 Imagining Project. Personally, I never expected this video to reach a point to where it'd play a part in the original creator stepping forward - let alone resonating with so many people. The impetus for this video was a want to share this microcosm of old fan culture, which I thought was too interesting to be left scattered in old screencaps and Tumblr posts. Since then, this video has somehow inspired others to make their own videos - and even Persona 6 Imagining Projects of their own. It's pretty insane to see the ripple effect of this video in the year since its original upload. So, thank you to Sunstone/ATLUSxP5 and everyone for keeping this project alive for so long! I dunno where exactly things will go from here, but it'll be interesting to see play out.

As an outsider looking in, I think it’s really obvious that it was fan made be it it was literally called an “Imagining Project.” The creator was imagining what Persona 5 would be like. That being said this aesthetic is amazing and I’d love to see P6 take on this style

personally wouldn't like any new mainline persona games to follow this aesthetic tbh, it just feels pretty opposite to the social mechanics in the recent games, ontop of all of the new games from 3-5 has had a more upbeat and stylistic nature to it, this would just be odd. It fits more into a mainline SMT game than a persona game imo

P5 IP was 100% a labour of love of the series. It has that spark that warms your heart like that later iterations of Persona were known for and the project made me so happy during that really long limbo between P4 and P5. It was nothing short of Magical and it kinda brought the community together in a hopeful way. I know I've left messages on those vids asking around if anyone knew if this was a real leak but I always knew in my heart it couldn't be real. P5IP will always hold a very special place in my heart.

Love the video, liking and commenting for boost! I’m exciting to check out the music. One correction for anyone who loves art: Black, white, and grey images are actually ‘Achromatic!’ Monochromatic refers to images with only one hue, such as all values of blue. If you desaturate a monochromatic image then it has no chroma (or color) just black and white + all the gray values between-achromatic!
@TheRealFolkBlues
@TheRealFolkBlues Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the correction! I legit didn't know achromatic was even a term before. I've somehow never stumbled across or heard of it in any way, so it's pretty cool to learn about.

The nerd in me is screaming to talk about Greco-Roman linguistics, as knowing your prefixes can really spice up your vocabulary. I doubt anyone wants to hear about the breakdown of the word heterochromatism, the concept of differing colored eyes, or the word chromatology, which has the suffix that denotes it's the science of color. Chromatology is how we discern the elemental makeup of some stars out there based on what elements burn what colors. Yeah see I can't help it. Nerding out over language. Feel free to use prefix knowledge to make your own words, like trichromatism or calling a four-wheelers quadrocycles.

8:13-8:20 Honestly, just by looking at some the facial work from (presumably) the protagonists shadow and the girl shown briefly on in the ‘promo’ artwork, it kinda gives me Ergo Proxy vibes. The protagonist’s shadow reminds me of Vincent and the girl reminds of Re-L. Maybe they took inspiration from it? Not too sure on that, just been watching this video again and thought of that. Well, that and and I love getting lost in the sudo-existent ‘lost-media’ vibe of this project. Also, the Suda51 mention is AWESOME. Truly based work from the original creator, especially since he was (and still arguably is) relatively unknown in the West during that time.

What an awesome video! Hi 👋 I’m the creator of Persona 6 VERGS, Persona 7 Soul Rhythm, and even my own version of Persona 5 Imagining Projects straight from AtlusxP5 era. Thanks for the shoutout Blue! I have to stress to you the impact AtlusxP5 project had on so many young people including me! To be honest back then I always knew it was to good to be true but it was the music that really pulled you in! And that’s the same feeling I wanted to give other people. I wanted people to hear some music from different places, and get into mixing as well. I’m so happy a video is being done on this. My channel was made as a tribute to the same feelings P5 Imagining Project gave so many people, regardless of it being fan made. Please guys go out and make your projects, maybe Altus could look at your material and add it to future games. And it’s actually kinda fun 😊. May the algorithm bless this video 🙏

I remember lurking through the forum thread back in 2012-2013, being so immersed in the story presented by AxP5. Reading through all of the theories, and looking forward to what happens next. It made the wait for the actual Persona 5 bearable lmao. The fan soundtrack has a special place in my heart. Through it I discovered Yasutaka Nakata, known for his works on Perfume, KPP, MEG, and of course, CAPSULE. Along with P5IP's bangin songs, it completely changed my music tastes. I still listen to the soundtrack to this day, and it's always such a vibe to play during commutes. To the creator of the project, if you're reading this, thank you for changing my life. Another amazing video. I remember seeing a lot of images about this back in those days but I wasn't into SMT back then so never checked those discussions that much, pretty surprised to see how big the whole deal was for a fan project. This kind of reminds about how MGSV also got a few fan projects that were trying to pose as a sequel/true ending DLC for the actual game, although they were clearly way more amateurish than this.

However I have a attachment to the imagine project which I realise as you say is maybe in part that such a project like this can never exist in the internet today. With the shroud of the music revealed in part thanks to things like Spotify, I now have quite a few of these songs on my liked to rotation. Tightrope and Hanabi being my favourites: and when I listen to them I very much have the idea of this project a black and white persona in my mind. Actually a big fan of MEG and her Collab works now. Those messages seem to be lost to the old KZbin inbox. I guess as one note to it, our discussion was in English so them being a person from the Atlus Faitful forums could be correct. It's kinda hard to believe how people fell for this project back in the day given how dedicated fans are when it comes to researching, analysing and sourcing stuff like this, and in the case of the imagining project it wouldn't have been even that hard to "debunk" it, but I guess when it comes to stuff like this it's often times our own suspension of disbelieve that makes us buy into these "fan leaks". After all we all wished for the announcement for Persona 5, and when we see such high quality output like with that of the atlusxP5 yt channel, we of course want it to be real.

The person(s) behind this project definitely sound like the kind who I'd love to be friends with and bounce ideas off of for whatever piece of media is inspiring us at that moment. Their concepts for this are so fun. I like to come up with more or less entire AUs for some stories - not even necessarily to create - and they seem very much in the same lane.

I came across this back in late 2013 and fell in love with the imagination of the channel. It was cool to listen to the music and think about "what ifs?" of the Persona series.

Wow I was very young when the p5 imagining project dropped but I definitely remember seeing Assinine Syndrome P6 project back in 2017. Still have some of his stuff in a playlist I made back in 7th grade. This video has brought back a lot of memories. Cool shit man

I remember finding that channel in late 2012, and being absolutely fuckin' convinced it was leaked audio from an upcoming P5. I promptly forgot about it since then. Cool video. Nice bit of niche internet history.

What a solid video. I think the scripting definitely elevated it. It’s unfortunate there wasn’t some super obscure leaked P5 but hey that’s just how things are sometimes.

Man this is a blast from the past! The saddest part of this was the last video they made was a animation with silhouettes of persona and a "we will return" And I still wait for their return, hopefully with a persona like copy cat series: "Facade" or "Charade" One can dream.

Concept-wise the creator actually made a lot of thematically fitting choices. The “puppeteer” motif is a great because you can tie in elements like “Rebelling against the Creator” or “Cutting ties with what’s controlling you”. I’ve only played P4 and P5 but a mirror world seems like another intuitive option as the “reflection” cognitive world that ties into the collective unconscious. This fan project had a really cool premise… maybe a theater/stage as the Velvet Room would’ve been cool!

I have run into these as someone who got into the franchise in 2019, I have ran into these and love them because it feels like a view into an alternate timeline and I love it. The battle theme Tralala goes off so hard to the point where I just view it as a true Persona Battle theme.

Im really glad someone finally covered this fan made project. I remember back in summer of 2014 when I was a young lad watching mekaku city actors (funny coincidence you talked about kagerous project too) and I discovered this soundtrack that seemed very cryptic (and awesome too) at the time. Made wondered how persona 5 will be and kinda unfortunate it didn’t turned the what this project presented it. Thanks for this explained video man

P5IP was such a mysterious and profound thing, really living up to its name and sending your imagining soaring about was P5 could have been. Although I still love how it turned out, I wish the P5 we got went the direction of P5IP … an adult-themed Persona we haven’t seen since P2EP, the return of Nyarlathotep as an ally, and a grand finale that concluded the saga of P1-4.

It's amazing when I see a video pop up in my feed that makes me remember something from the old days of YT. Like no joke I have been around since 2007 and I vividly remember this "soundtrack" appearing in my feed. I wish I could remember if I saw this first or the announcement trailer for the real game but damn this is still mindblowing to see honestly. It's rare that a video essay can trigger some great memories but you did it and I wanted to just thank you for this Have a good one

"goodbye" The way that was presented felt sad. Imo, it implies when the change in direction sharply happened. During that time, I've observed people who like SMT & Persona. I saw how fan's crippled when the release for P5 was delayed or teased. Tbh, I thought you were going to talk about something different. Such as, Haru eating Chuppa Chups (which shows her eating in the opening visual). She never eats that candy in the games! I'm quite certain she was meant to be a rich-brat type. Aside. What you've pit together here, is all new information and I'm amused. P5 is my first introduction to actually playing. Though I have lots of knowledge about SMT and Persona. Atlus gives the impression they center games around a music direction. Meaning the songs are composed first. Seeing the drawings available was amazing. Looks in-depth and dark. Maybe P6 will be that? Then again...the way "goodbye" was shown with wreckage submerged...its a very sad visual. Giving an impression that something truly ended. Awe, noticed how you included your Fumo plushie. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!✨

It wasn't until the P4G Steam release that i started my "SMT phase", playing lots of games of the franchise, making SMT my favorite franchise period even if i still have tons of the games left, and i gotta say, now that i'm on the last dungeon of Digital Devil Saga 1, the story that Persona 5 Imagining Project presents is something i could 100% see as an SMT Spin-off, maybe from the PS2 era, to the point i think it's a shame it hasn't been made a fan game with such an interesting concept such as Manipulation, which could be very neatly tied to Demons, Angels and even Gods.
