To those wondering about the Elena Salvatore MD on the window. Damon and she moved back to Mystic Falls after she was finished with medical school. Chronologically that was this year. They moved back into the newly renovated an restored Gilbert House which Damon worked hard to rebuild for her and Stefanie. They eventually have three more kids named Jenna, Grayson and Sarah. Also chronologically Stefanie would have been like fourteen by the finale of Legacies. Julie Plec said her plan was to introduce her in season five but it never came to fruition.

Matt had a bench dedicated to him for his service in the police force (he's currently running for mayor) and he's still alive. In TVD, the ending scene at Peace is a flash forward after Damon & Elena grew old together (everyone looks young & healthy in Peace). In Legacies it's confirmed that they have kids (human) and are happily married (Josie stays at their house sometimes in the later seasons but we never get appearances)
