Popular brands of the 90s: Karl Kani, Fubu, Enyce, Mecca, Pelle Pelle, Johnny Blaze, Phat Farm and many others were products of black hip hop culture from NYC. I'm not black, nor from NYC, but there was a point in time back in them where even I owned some of those brands of clothing. It had an edge, attitude and exclusivity about them.

Was Karl Kani really the originator when it came to big letter branding on their apparel? Didn't Nike and most others sportswear companies do that way before them?
