The Origins and Philosophy of Kreia/Darth Traya -The Sith who wanted to DESTROY the Force itself #1

Kreia is one of the most complex characters in all of Star Wars and is an influential character in the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. Otherwise known as Darth Traya or the Lord of Betrayal, she had a deep hatred for the force with an intriguing rationalisation of her Philosophy. In this video, we will explore this philosophy which fit neither the Sith or Jedi ideologies. This video will also detail her life from a Jedi, her turn to the dark side of the force and her eventual exile from the Sith Triumvirate by the Lord of Hunger, Darth Nihilus and the Lord of Pain, Darth Sion. Darth Kreia: The Sith who tried to liberate life from the will of the force.
Kreia was the Jedi master of the legendary Jedi knight and later Sith Lord, Darth Revan. Like her apprentice, she would be exiled from the Jedi order and would later fall to the dark side. One of the most complex characters in all of Star Wars, she held both the light side identiy of Kreia and the Dark side identiy of Darth Traya, of which she would switch between numerous times throughout her life. A believer in free will, her ideology was one that went against that of both the Jedi and the Sith, with Kreia seeing these as two sides of the same coin. She came to believe that the will of the force was a meer user of the sentients of the galaxy. She believed that the forces desire to bring balance had often led to devastating wars between the Sith and the Jedi, believing that the Galaxy would be better off without the force. Therefore, the sentients of the galaxy would be free to be individuals and, as Kreia saw it, would not be enslaved to the Will of the force. Born around 4000 years before the battle of endor and the destruction of the first death star, Kreia was a female human who rose through the ranks of the Jedi, achieving the rank of Jedi master as well as Jedi historian and consular. A seeker of knowledge, she believed she could find out the mysteries of the galaxy though meditation, even sacrificing her eyesight through the use of this ability. Although this was easily repairable she refused to have them healed as her strength in the force allowed her to see without the use of her eyes.
A wise but questioning teacher, she would train many padawans, including the gifted Revan. She would often propose difficult questions on the question of power and the will of the force, baffling her students and earning her disapproving looks from the other Jedi masters. These controversial questions would become famous among the Jedi learners and padawans and would become known as Kreias conundrums.
With the start of the Mandalorian wars, Kreia would be further distanced from the rest of the Jedi council when her former apprentice Revan directly disobeyed the council and fought against the mandalorians while the Jedi were officially neutral. While the Mandalorians would be defeated by the Revanchist Jedi, Revans eventual turn to the darkside and creation of a new sith empire would futher dimmen the Jedi orders view of kreia and her questioning nature.
Kreia would maintain that Revan had not fully embrased the darkside and that the cretation of the sith empire was to protect against a bigger evil, the true sith. Although she was correct, few believed her
The constant questioning as well as the fact that many of Kreias former students had fallen to the darkside or had gone against the Jedi high council to fight in the Mandalorian wars led to the eventual expulsion of Kreia. This effort was led by the Jedi master Atris who felt personally attacked by Kreia, as so many Jedi had rejected her own teachings to leave the order under Kreias Free thinking ideas.

She was not a Sith, she was exiled from them. She became something new, incorporating teachings of the Light Side as well as Dark while still holding an anti-Force worldview. First she was the Jedi Arren Kae, then Darth Traya, then Kreia: a phonetic combination of 'Kae' and 'Traya', representing her combination of Dark and Light.

I think Kreia started to hate the force after she got stripped of her power by Nihilus. She would then actually develop more than just being the balanced version of herself.

Maybe it wasn't her being exiled that made her hate the force, maybe it was the reflection of herself she saw in those she influenced, like nihilus, she taught him the darkest of powers, then he used it against her, making it a strong lesson of trust for Kreia/Traya, she is an extremely deep profound character, taking time for reflection thru meditation thus shifting her ideologies, which could be why she constantly reminds you about the influence you have on the other characters, relating to her own actions, and the influence on her apprentices.

KOTOR2 is the strongest rebuke to George Lucas vision that has ever been made so far. Kreia herself condemns George, without being able to name him, for creating a galaxy that could allow Jedi and Sith to exist. That said, by all means make a part 2! I’d say what I think about whether Kreia is right or wrong, but it’s not my video. You do it!

This is why I say George wrote her to criticize himself. Only George lucas would really understand that there's basically no free will in star wars, and kreia point that out every opportunity you get with her. I swear she pretty much shatters the 4th wall on malicore V when she says she hates the force and that it has a will. She's basically screaming at God for creating an Imperfect world.

@@eswalker02r38 Did Lucas actually write this? While he certainly could veto it if he wanted, I don’t think he was involved in writing the game, other than owning Lucasarts.

Cause George has said numerous times that he has a specific view of the force and he goes out of his way to make sure that view is as consistent as possible. This is why Revan and Bane were cut from the mortis arc Of the clone wars, cause he said that with cannot be force ghosts.

@@eswalker02r38 Oh, agreed there. That’s actually my biggest problem with all of TOR properties; they all violated Lucas rule about force ghosts. I’m just curious what Lucas thinks about Kreia, because her philosophy can be thought of as a rejection of the universe that Lucas created.

@@michaelbeach1087 I think he had more of a direct hand than we realize, cause originally Hanhar was supposed to be a jedi in game but George lucas scrapped that saying he didn't want another wookie jedi. So if he shut down hanhar before they could even write his character then I'm certain he had a hand in kreias philosophy

I think the best thing for George Lucas would've been to create a balance between freewill and will of the force. The force shouldn’t judge by what someone has done but what their intention was. It should know everything and give everyone several chances throughout their life. And when the time comes, everyone would be judged.
