My opinion is that the early scenes with the "ghost-children" are a kind of shamanic test: Firstly, one of the ghost children rolls a ball out of its cave cage and breaks the stone Inuksuk, then looks at Tabitha through the bars. This sets up a "test" to rebuild the Inuksuk, which is an Inuit construction. When Ethan rebuilds the Inuksuk [block puzzle], the ghost children appear to Tabitha [observing from a distance]. When Tabith takes the block puzzle and rebuilds it in front of the "slow walker" cave, she completes the "test," proving that she is one of the "shamans" or "chosen ones" who have been coming to Fromville to try to save the children over many lifetimes. They call her "Angakkuit" ["Shamans!" (plural form of "Angakkuq")], indicating her part in the narrative, as one of a long line of shamans to come to Fromville. My opinion is that this is parallel to the mythological story of "Qiviuq" [AKA, "Kiviuq"] who was an Inuit shaman whose "hero's journey" occurs over the course of many lifetimes/incarnations as different versions of himself. IMO, the use of the Inuit "Inuksuk" is to be used as a Rosetta Stone to understand the narrative, by way of understanding the ghost-children's phrase as being of Inuit origin, just as the Inuksuk is Inuit in origin.

I love this theory Michael and it makes perfect sense in the context of reincarnation on the show. The "anghkooey" word has been so frustrating and this is a great explanation for it. Your points about the inuksuk are spot-on and I had forgotten the role it played in summoning the kids to Tabitha in S2.

hahaha that would be crazy if the hotel pops up out of the ground. 🤣🤣 My friend and co-host Scarletminded said maybe when Jade plays the song, it will open a portal or something. I think it will open a portal into a dream state or produce a vision that will give them key insight into their origins and what he and Tabitha need to do going forward. Also, ancestry/blood relationships are a possibility for sure. All the many references to trees and roots could be a clue that family trees and bloodlines are key here.

It may make sense as to why TBIW couldn't convince Christopher of the truth and how to break the cycle. Hopefully it's not too much for Jade and Tabby.
@LuisMorenoBlanco2 күн бұрын
Well i'm willing to accept what the shows portraits about the characters, but still those flashbacks are portrayed in third person rather first. Let's watch what the season finale has to offer. I can offer an explanation about those specific flashbacks. could it be that following Ethan's premise about the whole ordeal being a story, that chosen people that step in to fulfill certain roles shares the memories of those that have fallen trying to overcome the challenge. In an story progression, that place seemed to be in loop that is starting to progress since overcoming certain key events, "Boyd destroying the music box", the replacement "nomination" for Martin: "Julie, Randall and Marielle", the "Communication Tower" event, "Tabitha's short scaping fromville". The boy in white acknowledge that something (everything) change.
@JulieBDeepDives2 күн бұрын
Yes, they are portrayed in third person but it had to be done that way for us to see Miranda in the flashback getting murdered by Smiley - if it had been POV shots, we wouldn't have known what was going on and who was getting murdered.
@LuisMorenoBlanco2 күн бұрын
@@JulieBDeepDives Yes we could, haven't played first person shooters? I'm just suggesting from an art direction/graphic design perspective that pov matters. Well that's how I interpret the shoots in any given show. I could be mistaken and I'm willing to detract if else.
@JulieBDeepDivesКүн бұрын
@@LuisMorenoBlanco POV matters, yes, but I don't see how it could have worked well in this case. If they didn't show Miranda but we only watched her running and getting murdered through her own eyes, how would we know who got murdered? I guess there are ways of course - it could've shown Eloise running after her and calling out to her. But i think they're hiding the truth about what happened to Eloise from us for a reason right now. That's why when Miranda left the cellar, it was just getting close to sunset and by the time she got to the tree, it was the dead of night. We're missing a piece in between that will explain what happened to Eloise.
@LuisMorenoBlancoКүн бұрын

If Miranda was the chosen one to save the children, why did the BIW want Christopher to go to the faraway tree? Why didn't the BIW communicate with Miranda directly?
@JulieBDeepDives2 күн бұрын
I think there's a lot more to the story, more to that conversation than just the part that Victor walked in on with the BIW and Christopher. Since the BIW said in E9 that he tried to help by telling Christopher what to do once but now he thinks it's better they figure it out on their own... I think he must've told Christopher he was reincarnated from the ringleader of the child sacrifice. It would've been too much for him to handle. Christopher looked so angry and agitated in the flashback. And my theory is he told Christopher that he'd need to sacrifice himself to end the cycle - by going through the tree, which would lead to his death.

Nice diving! I'm 50/50 on Tabitha as reincarnated Miranda vs her newfound FROMville Chosen One psychometry to channel/access experiences of her predecessors. RE: Bracelet. Based on how Tabitha spoke about it, I think there must be one and only one bracelet, made from Jim's father's boot laces, with a "mistake" in its design-unique, one-of-a-kind. Jim suggests it's similar, but Tab is certain it's the same. I wish Tab hadn't cut Henry off, so he could go on to say that Mir used his father's laces. I haven't worked out the chain of custody across time and space that makes this possible, but I suspect time travel is involved. =) I think BIW has tried to influence key players in each cycle to "save" the Anghkooey gang and he's been getting closer each time making adjustments in response to past failures or mistakes. Last cycle, he chose Chris to go to Bottle Tree, but when Chris refused, Miranda made the attempt on her own. He learned from that & arranged things in this cycle so Tabitha would go instead of Jade-Chris. There are still more pieces to fall into place before the end/success, but there's progress! I think Victor surviving from prev cycle is a critical diff this cycle. If there were more than 5 seasons planned, I'd love to see how this cycle's failure leads to the next one's success (like Kenny's beautiful "thread" dialogue). Maybe some astral time travel will show us how that's true of previous cycles.
@JulieBDeepDivesКүн бұрын
Love this comment! Extremely well-thought-out theories and analysis. I agree about the BIW trying to influence the key players in each cycle to try to "save" the kids and is changing tactics each time to get closer to succeeding. The part about the flaw in the bracelet is puzzling. After what we saw with Julie throwing the rope, time travel is possible but I'm not sure how it would work in terms of the bracelet. Maybe Tabitha just make the same mistake in the bracelet that Miranda made... seems like a long shot of course. Also Miranda herself seems to have made 2 bracelets - one that she gave to Henry and one that she had on her wrist in Fromville. Unless in Fromville, Miranda time traveled to the future and found Tabitha's bracelet? So confusing lol
@brianp1810Күн бұрын
@@JulieBDeepDives Thanks! This show really gets the gears turning, and that frickin' bracelet! It tasks me… I still haven't worked out the bracelet's chain of custody back and forth across time and in and out of FROMville, but I think I've figured out two ways (well, maybe 1.5) to avoid a paradox scenario. They depend on one thing we heard from Henry being an unwitting lie/inaccuracy-Miranda did not make the bracelet, but she did tell Henry she did. So, Tabitha creates it in 2000 or so, and at some point before 1978, it falls into Miranda's possession and, Chosen One that she is, she psychometrically knows to give it to Henry and tell him she made it for him, so that it can be found by Tabitha in 2022, cause her to doubt "Camden", tee up Henry's car to be hit, and land Tab, Henry, and Acosta in an ambulance that gets Treed to FROMville. Circle of life! Or something. =) Anyhow, the paradox workarounds… Option 1. Physical time travel moves the single unique bracelet across time and FROMville space. Someone travels to another era of FROMville the way Boyd did, first via Farway, then via the torch, while wearing the bracelet. While in that other time period, they give away, leave, or lose the bracelet and return to the present. This scenario could be used more than once in the course of the bracelet's lifetime to ensure it is created, given, found, and worn by the people we have seen and heard are associated with it. I believe Boyd's magic Dungeon torch proves this is possible. Conjecture: BIW gets his hands on the bracelet in FROMville at some point before 1978 and throws it from the top of the lighthouse so that it falls out of the hollow in the bottle tree Miranda is decorating so she can find it and give it to Henry. Option 2. Astral time travel "clones" the original bracelet in the past of FROMville. Someone astrally time travels to another era of FROMville, the way Julie did in the ruins, while wearing the bracelet. While in that other time period, they give away, leave, or lose the bracelet and return to the present. The original is on the wrist of the traveler in the present and a "clone" is left behind in FROMville past. NB. This may not work if everything an astral traveler brings w them, even if discarded/separated from them, disappears when they return. I don't think we have any evidence for this phenom yet, unless someone found the lighter Julie had in the tunnels later. As Boyd would say-"I gotta go." Keep diving! =)
