That's why Seth can write modern better than most can. Majority of gay men aren't super feminine, or sneeze glitter, but are exactly like how these two act. The smoking episode is probably the funniest in the whole series.

@@dl3088 The lesbian Trill relationship from DS9 is about a lesbian relationship of two members of the aliens known as "Trill" in Star Trek: Deep Space 9. It's only really there for 1 episode, rather than a truly recurring thing. The interspecies lesbian relationship between Vastra and Jenny is from the 11th doctor and 12th doctor eras of Doctor Who, about the lesbian relationship between a Silurian, basically a lizard woman that pre-dates humanity, and the human Jenny.

He does take care of topa and remember money is an incredibly foreign concept to them so they have to find more interesting ways to pass the time. Klyden doesnt leave his quarters much if ever. he stays in his quarters, litterally doing what we see here when topa is at school. when topa comes home he makes his snack prepares dinner, bortus doesnt come home until after dinner (we learn this in a season 2 episode primal urges that he spends most of him time in simulated porn on the holodeck.) so he basically exists since he doesnt want to leave his quarters because there are females on the ship.

dude if it wasn't for the whole stabby crazy messed up culture i think bortus would have divorced klyden when he mutilated their daughter. However Bortus seems to be falling more into union customs, still i do believe there is enough love there to keep bortus from stabbing klyden, obviously klyden doesn't have that problem. Also anyone else get the feeling that klyden is in a way more homosexual than bortus? not saying that Bortus isn't attracted to only males (we see that he is when he almost crashes the ship with a porn virus.) but klyden shows more of the trains that we associate with homosexuality on earth.

@Vara5083 жыл бұрын
Sulu was gay in TOS, though never stated on screen. And Jadziah Dax from ds9 was bisexual. Star trek just doesn't shine a light on it at least in true trek (TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY) Because it understands that things like this should feel natural in the world, and to bring unnecessary attention too it is to in a way alienate it. Star trek has been diverse since the start, and i personally love sulu and wish he'd had his own series. He was gay though it was never officially stated. TLDR: Two Gay characters in old trek, before it got too "woke"
@vexxama3 жыл бұрын
I’ve actually been mulling it over and trying to come to a conclusion, when females in their species are so rare. That they consider the gender a defect, that they officially only recognise one gender as the norm, could bortus be considered gay? It seems that if there was a mono-gendered species that still had romantic relationships and sexual intercourse, would we consider that to be homosexual? Or does that definition only really apply within the context of a species with multiple genders?

So the wives stay at home in the kitchen and don't work but take care of the eggs and babys. How dare you Star Trek.

Orville has an ideology. They make propaganda of certain ideas instead of given the opportunity for people to take their own conclusions. They are so far from Star Trek original series. The original series had a great man called Gene Rodenberry. That is something Orville will never be able to copy. Understandable why they are loosing audience and will fail big time. They hardly pass 4 million viewers. The producers think that people are stupid.
@Dracula9756 жыл бұрын
The Orville isn't trying to copy or replace Star Trek. It does have many similarities, but that has more to do with Mr. McFarland's love of Star Trek and acknowledging how great it is/was. Trek fans are passionate, but they can't even agree on which of the series they hate/love except for maybe The Original Series. I think/hope The Orville stays around for a while. It may not be up to your standards, but I find it quite enjoyable for the most part.
@makara46156 жыл бұрын
Plus, I don't think Star Trek was much different on the front of ideology up until the later iterations (namely DS9). It set up two or more positions, had them play out against each other. The one that went contrary to their ideology, while not portrayed as outright evil, was put in a more shady position usually, and lost at the end. Orville does it very similar, for example with the Krill. The Krill are set up as the bad guys, but it's also shown that they are not bad by nature and in their society, they are actually not the bad guys. Since the ark of them has only started, I don't speak overall. But it's looking very much similar up until now. Orville even goes further with Bortus female baby. The moral of the story was to not alter a child without considering it's wishes. To wait until it's old enough etc. But the story ended with a decision *against* that moral. Something you usually didn't see in Star Trek until DS9.
@nathanventura5485 жыл бұрын
Star trek also has an agenda and it has since it premiered in the 60s. Roddenberry was adamant about representation and diversity from the very beginning. He was a staunch humanist, and his humanism is strongly reflected in Star trek all the way from the original series to the present series (Not so much the JJ movies though) humanism.org.uk/humanism/the-humanist-tradition/20th-century-humanism/gene-roddenberry/
@wolfgangengel48355 жыл бұрын
@Dave Von Saunder I think it's not. A parody would be much closer to the original, poking Trek all the time and silly jokes every few minutes. It's more a hommage to Trek.
@Maximusdecismusmeridus3 жыл бұрын
Usually people who accuse others of having agenda, clearly have an agenda of their own, and assume people are stupid enough not to see it.
