I long for these days again. These folks could easily handle the Coronavirus. They had farms, they were self sufficient. I wish I could go back to it.

Takes me back to the late 1970's, grandparents' farm and summer work on the farm with cousins....think about this song and the good memories often....

@triggerhappydad65 my friend, it is bobby and Sonny's gift to you! The lyrics are from this very tune. "Georgia mules and country boys." I'd love to hear your song when you finish. Post a link if you wish!

So there are plenty cows out there right now, but few mules, and very few men who ever plowed a furrow in a field! The Osborne’s are kindly failing too. But these guys were some of the best bluegrass groups that ever were in my option! May God bless them!

March 1, 1980 PBS Live From The Grand Ole Opry 11 pm portion with Hank Snow emceeing the segment and Hubert Gregory of the Fruit Jar Drinkers can be seen between the Osbornes towards the end with the guitar. Leslie Wilburn on guitar on the far left playing behind the Osborne Brothers. This is what made the Grand Ole Opry at one time the greatest show on radio - or anywhere for that matter IMHO.

Wow, makes me feel like we've lost what made America great and most folks don't seem to be bothered at all by it or care to remember it.

Probably because that is the truth. And giving everything we have to magical globalist ideas of global government and "diversity" wont help anything.

Dana Williams, thank you for posting this. By the way, thanks for your kind words when your old boss Jimmy C. Newman died--we were big fans, and remember you well from Cajun Country. Opryman, that is indeed what it used to be--people wandering around, and a show going on behind the show. I can't tell whether Hank Snow snuck up on Hubert Gregory or just bumped into him, but that's what it used to be, and how sad that while we know we can't have the same people, today's management has taken so much of the life out of the place.

I wonder if Bobby and Sonny, 40 years on, are aware of just how many folks are now going "back to the land" and taking up subsistence farming!

Sorry, Bobby, but I'll have to disagree with you. I DO live in the past. I remember the days of the Grand Ole Opry when they played COUNTRY music. You and your brother were among the best.

here in Kentucky at least, the boys are still country and they are still bailing hay, plowing the ground everywhere. anywhere you go here you can see it. hay is bailed everywhere, corn fields everywhere, tobacco, other crops. Still happening here despite it being 2016.

KevinBorgOfDeath how do you think we eat? I'm from Missouri. I lived in a city. Five minutes from my house was all corn and farmland. This really hasn't gone away. My wife grew up on a farm. Her dad still raises cattle. We live in the beach in Florida but he'll most people down here own land and hunt and fish. Grow food. I just got this song on vinyl. Depressing????? This is a celebration. I just figured the Georgia boys would get a kick out of this song. Hehe. We go electing a democrat Yankee from the big city...A daddy's little rich kid and we think we have no roots. Fuck all that jazz.
