To say nothing of their talent, imagine bringing up 4 boys and have them turn out as sweet as these kids. An example to the rest of the world..

......and they were only 4 out of 9 kids!

The youngest Jay was fastastic.. he had the cutest smile. He easily kept up with his bigger brothers.

Just loves how Andy took these kids under his wings to get them going. Then when Donny and Marie had their show they show Andy how grateful they was by having him on their show. What a wonderful love story between 2 family

Love this so much! The Osmonds are sooooo talented....and versatile as well. Jay is sooooo adorable especially the way he stared at the camera. Very adorable with a bit of naughtiness...that's adorably hilarious!

One of my favorite Andy Williams "duets", this is from 1964 (the boys debuted on Andy's show in late '62).

This is a great clip. I enjoy their kick line. Are there any kids singing barbershop these days? It's hard enough for adults to do it. Amazing family of talent (with I'm sure a lot of hard work involved). I love these videos.

He was 5--Donny turned 6 in December 1963, and his first appearance was just a few weeks prior to that.

Probably mid to late 1964. As others have noted, "Hello Dolly" opened on Broadway in January of 1964 and took a little time to be widely known. Note that the choreography is a very simplified version of some of Gower Champion's steps the waiters perform at the Harmonia Gardens. Also note subtle Beatles influence here in "longer" hair -- compared to their earlier military style crew cuts -- and look at the Beatle boots! Not to mention Andy's groovy pre- psychedelic sweater 😁.

Donny debuted on Andy's show in 1963, less than a year after his brothers debuted, but he didn't become a regular with the group until about 1966.

I’ve heard Andy say in interviews that they had to wait til Donny was old enough to be on the show as a regular.

well thanx to youtube i can enjoy my favorite childhood show in COLOR!!(as opposed to a 1958 general electric b&w)-used to love the end of his shows when he'd sing requests-my fave was 'yes sir that' s my baby-btw for the record, 'hello dolly 'opened on broadway january 1964, so this is probably the same show that had 'lida rose'

What a fabulous video. Their harmonies really were spot on. Thanks so much for sharing it. But I believe you have the date wrong. According to the osmandmania website, which lists all their television appearances, this video is from the April 14, 1964 show.

It has to be later than 1961/62 since the song Hello, Dolly was not written until 1964

That was David Osmond, he is one of Alan Osmond's sons. (Alan is the eldest singing Osmond in this video). Terrific family and very talented.

What was David Osmond? When this was made David wasn’t even a twinkle in Alan’s eye yet.

Yes, 1964 is right. On Summer 1965 they were touring in Sweden and sang then 'Hello Dolly' with the Swedish singer Lasse Lonndahl. They even recorded 'Hello Dolly' and also another song (in Swedish) with him.

while i'm at it, there was a clip of the a.w. show on a&e's biography-in it he remarks 'if you don't have a color set....'in reference to his 'sweater of the week'..

I guess I am floored when I meet people who actually claim to know them. I found someone on David's facebook page talking about writing a Osmond book as a result of watching them grow up from working with 2G!

Not quite sure what you are asking... I actually worked for Alan for a few years and I know his sons; so I did know who David was when I saw he was on Idol.

I never heard about that oldest guys' 4th oldest being on idol actually and he also recently did a new cd but I wouldn't say his name was famous. When you heard about him being on Idol would you say that you knew of him so much and had such name recognition that it was "obvious"
@mrsTraveller643 жыл бұрын
Alans sons never had that talented voices as the original Osmonds, noone knows about them outside the USA. They tried to become famous but failed.
@AnneLiesveld12 жыл бұрын
Not to sound stupid (but if you are the sixty year old you can totally say that I am stupid and I won't be offended) but I look at all these clips and I look at how Alan looks like a kid ready for colleg and I am picturing Donny/Marie/Jimmy at 5-3-1 and realizing there is a range in their family. Unbelievable when you realize how young Donny Osmonds 14 year old (at this point) older brother looks currently. like a 2010 concert clip online show him barely looking older than Donny.
@AnneLiesveld12 жыл бұрын
Dragon: I am assuming you are younger than the original age of this show etc but if not sorry for my assumption but I would suggest when you find old clips of Donny you will recognize him instantaneously.

my bad. I am sure if you are old enough to remember you know better. I thought I read it he was five when he started.

He chose to is why he "had" to. It isn't like he was forced to (I am guessing) by all osmonds under a certain name and as far as him being known I would say that he isn't as famous as you probably think he is. I more recognize his name becuase of donny/marie than his own merits.
@AnneLiesveld12 жыл бұрын
Donny is not in this group. He was debuted in 1962
