I didn't know that they had a sister! When the oldest brother got Alzheimer's and was in a home, the three brothers used to visit him and sing to him. It was the only time he smiled. What a family! Their parents raised them right. RIP all.

Andy got his start in a group with his brothers. They did radio shows on WHO in Des Moines, Iowa, WLS in Chicago and WLW in Cincinnati (all 50,000-watt powerhouse stations that could be heard over a large part of the US) then did national shows and movies.

The brothers recorded a Christmas album in 1970 that is now out of print, but I found a copy in mint condition on eBay a few years ago. It’s my all-time favorite Christmas album. The entire Williams family also recorded an album for which the brothers recorded a few songs-Canadian Sunset and Dream (When You’re Feelin’ Blue) are the two I remember.

Never knew there was a sister. The networks should have shown every Christmas show from Andy Williams, the Osmonds, the Carpenters, Bing Crosby, etc. this past Christmas season. These would have cheered everyone up and shown the younger crowd what real talent sounds like and how great Christmas specials were when we were kids.
@silverpotter13143 жыл бұрын
I really agree. There are no Christmas shows like the ones from the 60s and 70s. I think the last good ones were the Osmonds in the late 70s and a few in early 80s. Sad as the family get torn down we lose a little of ourselves.

Loved this!!!!!! Fond memories 😇😉😊💕 I remember being at the ear/nose throat specialist dr's office in Rancho Mirage, California year 2000, sitting inside one of the patient rooms awaiting the doc to come in & check on me...and I hear this VERY FAMILIAR VOICE 🤔🎹🎶🎙.. I get off the dr bed 🛌 🏩 and sneak a peak outside my door AND I'll be danged THERE'S ANDY WILLIAMS, taking a stroll down the hallway singing 'Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head' - PRICELESS!!! UNDENIABLE PITCH, TONE - blessing us all as we listened intently ... I was awaiting tumor news but for those few mins there hearing him sing I could've cared less. Only thing missing were ALL HIS BROTHERS or ALL THE OSMONDS(!!!!) 😆🤣😁💕😇 God sure doesn't make em like that anymore, nope 😉😍
@deboraholsen2504 Жыл бұрын
I think God does still make people with voices like Andy Williams, the Osmond brothers, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and the like. However, what has changed is the lousy format and style of singing that we have to work with today, so we don’t have a chance to get to notice people who do have these voices and abilities!! It’s so sad!! People only seem to be interested in hearing live singing today if it’s accompanied with flashy backgrounds and costumes and lots of movement and even drama! They wouldn’t be satisfied today with people just singing and harmonizing while sitting in chairs with big smiles on their faces and small movements accompanying the music, no matter how wonderful they harmonize together! (Seems like people are mesmerized by stupid and somewhat negative shows like America’s Got Talent that are buzzing with weird excitement!) It’s just sad that people don’t seem to value just pure singing anymore, unless it’s accompanied with lots of action and crazy fans yelling at the top of their lungs “Woo woo” and background stuff going on! And younger people don’t even know about this style of singing! I was born after this show was made, so I barely got a taste of this style of singing, but when I get to hear it, I always treasure it! Another thing I couldn’t help noticing is Andy Williams’ very positive and calmly upbeat stage presence that just made you feel good! His good, handsome brothers were great at singing, but didn’t have the same stage presence as Andy did, that people tend to be drawn to and connect with. I think it must be Andy’s natural charisma and that he enjoyed being an entertainer so much, accompanied with his big heart. ❤ BTW …I really enjoyed your story! I loved how the experience was such a wonderful surprise for you. I loved how you said that his voice and presence momentarily made you forget your troubles! 🥹🥰

The Williams family including parents, brothers and sister were on several Andy Williams Christmas shows. Andy also had a younger brother Gilbert "Buddy" but he died of meningitis at just 2 years of age.
