One thing I can say is I love the aesthetic of those vintage chronographs. That Leland and the Sealand are exactly my weakness.

I have a Norina watch with a Landeron 48 mov. The fact that lots of cronographs use that caliber really helped when i sent it to repair

Really enjoyed that Jory. I've a chrono with a Landeron 248 in it and it's a fantastic, reliable and underappreciated vintage movement, but didn't know much about the 48 - until now.

I got a Commodor watch with Landeron (I think) 51 movement after my grandfather... And i recently got it serviced so it runs smoothly, and oh boy am I glad for that watch... It a really beautiful piece of watch 🙂

Hi Jory, love your channel! In 1971 I was given a Wakmann chronograph (manual winding) which I still have and continue to use often. Still runs (although a bit fast) and functions well! Thanks for all your videos!

Very cool movement indeed TT, had never heard of this movement but now I have learnt something new, so thank you once again 🤗👍

Yes I own a Chronograph Swiss 51 with a black dial which I have been told is very similar to the 48 and it just looks so fine and delicate with that many wheels and I respect what has been achieved some 80 years ago...

I have been restoring a Chronograph Suisse for a month. Basic, rugged and I have the Landeron 51. The only difference I can tell is the pillar plate of the reset hammer is smaller. But the 248 etc are readily available and CS were produced at one point hundreds of shops with many different names. Thanks for the video as I was excited at the coincidence..:)

I have one of these movements. The watchmaker is LIVIDIA - I am guessing it was a pre WWII watch owned by my Grandfather, but it could have been just post war as well. I know it was bought in Europe between 1937 and 1949 when he left to emigrate to Canada. Love the watch.

I own a Landeron 47, 48. 248, and now I own a very rare Olympic up down chrono with the Venus 170 column wheel chronograph. Next up is the Landeron 39

I have a very charming fischer from my grandpa, with gold case which has inside the landeron 48. Love that watch so so much, the patina that made is absolutely beauty

A lot of interest is starting to surface in the Seagull 1963. Still pine for my first chrono, back in the sixties. My Croton Chronomaster with a Rolex Oyster bracelet. I went through two of them.

Nice to see someone mentioning this battlehorse :). I have a vintage gold plated Nivada (the dial is quite similar to the watch you showed) with a geneva-striped Landeron 48, and I bought it for only 250 bucks, which I'd say it's a fair price. You'll see some of these Landeron based watches for prices above 500, but IMHO they are not worth it, you can get a Valjoux or Venus based watch for that (Landeron made their movements as a cheaper alternative to Valjoux, Venus and Lemania). Now, that said, I had some bad luck with its last service, as where I live mechanical chronos are uncommon and nobody seems to know how to adjust the eccentric screws of the movement, causing the whole mechanism to stop when the chrono is engaged. I've gathered some instructions and diagrams, but none of them gives a hint on how to adjust them other than "avoid touching them". Any hints will be appreciated :)

Saw one of these movements with an invicta dial, did some searching and am surprised that invicta, cheap weird invicta, was once Swiss, really interesting I think.

My old Baume and Mercier chronograph has one. However it doesn't work like your video. Bottom pusher is reset only and doesn't stop the chronograph. Has a 48 on the main plate. Or is it a 248 hmm.

Hi, Jory. I own a 1940’s Baume & Mercier with a Landeron 48 movement in a 34mm case. I want to flip it. It’s in a pretty good condition... can you help me out with an estimated value for the watch?

I estimate 1500 to 2500. Is a very good watch

These are great watches, usually the cases are an issue (not stainless) and water incursion. But you forgot to mention the Heuer/Hamilton-Buren/Breitling/Depraz Calibre 11! More here: monochrome-watches.com/calibre-11-history-iconic-movement-and-its-evolution-in-depth/

The Daytona used the El Primero movement at one point in time- so I mentioned its movement!
